Needs to be less....squarey. That should be a word, stop telling me it's not spell check.

Yeah it's extremely boxy and lacks detail.

For capturing and uploading video, I would use xfire. It's 100% free, and converts your video to flash before uploading making the upload time about 3 minutes for 3 minutes of video.

A result of using JKEdit for too long, unfortunately.

Despite it's obvious boxiness, I think it holds creative spirit.

When it comes to detailing, you gotta think about what the building you're working on is designed for.

Consider this: when you're building a room, think about how often people would be in it if the place was real. 99% of the time, rooms that people spend more than an hour a day in are going to have windows. Things like storage closests, however, won't.

Also, walls should always be different - even slightly - from building to building. Maybe add an in situ colonnade, or arcade. Industrial buildings will more likely have structural supports visible outside the buildings, and will have more machinery type stuff in the area.

One last thing: Slanted walls. Boxes appear boxy, no matter how much you round them. Try trapezoidal shaped buildings, try anything! Experimenting is good.

in apartment style buildings, carpet and decorations are going to be very similar throughout the building, while individual homes will probably be decorated very differently.

for rooms, the best tip i can offer is to know whats going to be in a room before you make it, instead of making a room and then filling it. also, varying ceiling height and windows on the roof can really help break up a boring room. for instance, if you have a large living room, try making the ceiling higher and adding supports so the room feels larger.

Wow, impressive work man! I agree with the others, you're work in these last few pics has come a long way since your initial designs. Great creative spirit, like Echoman said, and I love the sprawling, old-school feel. At this point in JK's age, I think it's better to release something with some real gameplay value like this than just post a bunch of pretty pictures online. Hats off to you sir!
