I had been hanging around Massassi since some time around 1999. I joined the forums a couple of years later as "spudmasterG" and tended to hang around the tech forum and help people/interject with helpful information. I then switched names. Now, you're basically calling me a "newbie" which is understandable since I don't tend to hang around much anymore. I may not be very well known, but that doesn't mean I don't have the same capabilities as anyone else. The moderator bit, I can understand since, well, no one around here really knows me. Being a level/mod reviewer, though, usually just requires time, being very thorough and having a high degree of written proficiency.

Please, don't try to judge someone on a single response and a post count. It makes you seem a bit obtuse.

In case some of you missed the memo, mIRC is shutting down. So we needs to find a chat host.

Maybe I'm going crazy, but shutting down the IRC servers would kill mIRC, wouldn't it? (got the link off of another board, btw - don't use mircx)

You can't shut down mIRC, it's just an IRC client.

mircx is just one irc network. There are hundreds, even thousands of IRC networks around, if just one of them shuts down, it wont affect any of the others. Massassi uses irc.holonet.org btw, not irc.mircx.com.

I could care less about chat, but I would love to see Massassi survive! I think a bigger dive into JO/JA specific tutorials may give a boost in news, visitors, etc. We could also do a monthly 'pay per play' JK server. It's simple. Someone with decent bandwidth provides their backup machine as a 6-8 man server, password protected. For a 5.00 donation to Brian via PayPal, he provides the password for that month, and you're allowed to play, provided there's room on the server. The server would either stay up 24/7 (unlikely) or would stay up on scheduled hours, running scheduled mods/levels. (I.E. Mon -SBX 3.1, Massassi CTF - Tue Vanilla JK, JK Deathmatch - Wed, JK Arena) We could even schedule tournaments at certain times for subscribers.

Just a thought. I don't know if anyone's willing to do this who has cable and an extra machine, but I'd definitely pay the $5 to play per month. We could raise/lower the price according to what the general concensis is.

Its funny, because the Chat is the one part of the site that is continuing to grow, even as interest in everything else starts to slack off. There are twice as many people on average in the chat these days then there was a couple of years ago.

Well, to let massassi just flop over and choke would be a total shame, since jedi X authors would have no other place to go, especially JK authors. If massassi drowns then where will they go? (yes JK is alive an kicking, thanks to ease of editing!)
(btw I have only read the 1st couple of posts so sorry if this is on-topic = off-topic for any off-topics.

All because of my (prior) leadership, no doubt. The policies I set in place have allowed unprecedented growth in the field of poeple-chat induction services. Or something.

Post counts are meaningless, and he's been here longer than you.

Edit: Play nice, don't want to start a flame war now, do we... stay on topic, that is helping Massassi continue. And one of the reasons it has *lasted* this long is because of the community spirit. Don't break that.

Aight.
