I don't think a non-religious person could really understand why we choose not to date non-Christians. It's not that we don't like someone because they're not Christian, I know tons of girls that I would love to date but I've decided not to pursue. It's a sacrifice to God because I know in my heart that if I decided to start dating someone who didn't feel the same way about Jesus as I do in their heart, my faith would suffer, and so would my relationship with God. And my relationship with God is so much more important than any girlfriend could ever be.
I don't think Freelancer is being close-minded, and I thought exactly the same way as him before I became a Christian. It only makes sense when you have that intimate relationship with God.
That said, I don't think less of any Christian or other religous person who decides to date people of other faiths; it's just a personal belief that I hold for myself.
