Roll your eyes all you want, but I'd like you to come up with a single example beyond relatively basic mathematical formulae of why you'd need to use logical reasoning to practice biology. You learn how stuff is made, you learn how it works, and then you simply apply it to a situation.

I hate to break it to you, Flexor, but Chemistry is unseparably intertwined with Physics, and Chemistry is unseparably intertwined with Biology.

More often than biologists like to admit, a phisicist or a mathematician would come into biology and make a huge breakthrough that would have stumped biologists for decades. Case and point: DNA.

There's so little substance in biology that they must compensate by using fancy names.

Chemistry uses rather basic concepts of physics and very little mathematics.

Chemistry is based on physics, and biology is based on bio- and organic chemistry. They are not "intertwined". The relationship is purely parasitic.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Lois, this is NOT my Batman glass.

But seriously, come to Alabama. Trust me, it's hard to remember that there are any intelligent conservatives out there when the majority of your people in AL that have NO idea what they're talking about are conservative. Same with all the little liberal kiddies in college. LOL BUSH IS TEH SUX KERRY FTW LOLOLOLZ A/S/L?!?!?

I don't agree with both sides at all, really. I'm just kinda...there. I have thoughts that agree with the liberal society's views and thoughts that agree with the conservative society's views.

How is that paranoid? It's a fact that the majority of Bush administration's tax cuts go to the rich.

This is from FactCheck.org (a site that even Dick Cheney tried to cite).

"President Bush stumbled Feb. 19, saying the average tax cut is $1,089. The White House corrected that figure to $1,586. But the fact is that most Americans won't see anywhere near either of those amounts.

As we've said before when disputing equally misleading lowball figures given by Howard Dean, half of all individuals and families will get less than $470, and half will get more. The “average” is misleading because it is inflated by very large cuts given to a relative few at the top."

No Cheney meant to site www.factcheck.org but accidentally said www.factcheck.com (which directs you to a site which is owned by george soros, hence the confusion)

EDIT: It seems it no longer links to george soros' page. It did a while ago though.

Yeah but the only major American TV news outlet than can (arguably) be considered conservative is Fox. Even then only the editorializing of some of their commentators can be considered conservative. The news coverage, while right of their competition, is mostly centrist.

And what's this about the rich media preferring conservatives because of taxes? This makes no sense as most of the media is blatantly anti-conservative and that the rich are taxed at a far higher rate than anyone else in this country.

factcheck.org lost credability with me when they disputed Cheney's claims (made during the VP debate) even though their previous reports absolutely backed him up. All internet sites should be viewed with scrutiny.

What kind of nonsense is this? Anyways, Cheney said .com instead of .org. You want a cite because you find it more believable he wanted to direct people to a Soros site to back him up? WTF?

Yeah I noticed that too but I wouldn't be so petty to point it out. Funny, but the reason I thought he wanted a cite is because people are always asking for them here instead of taking two minutes of their time to research it themselves. I respectfully apologize for calling attention to Mort's nonsensical post.

I am kinda paranoid actually. Mostly because the patriot act allows the government to imprision U.S. citizens without a trial.

Technically you have to be fighting as an enemy combatant, but if there is no trial they don't need any proof of that.

I think the main gripe about american medias isn't the conservative bias of it's anchors and commentators, but rather their censoring of information and/or the propaganda that goes through it (even though those aren't the networks' fault).

Not really. The rich have a ton of tax loopholes that they (and anyone else for that matter) can exploit. It's all strictly legit.

Wrong.

If an objective measure of intelligence existed, I might believe you.

As it stands, you're telling me conservative states have "lower education." That doesn't mean anything. Do you mean their schools are not funded as well? They have worse test scores? Neither case is a measure of intelligence.

#$%#$%

What the hell grade level are you at? This isn't high school. However, I think everyone should stop talking to you about science, because obviously you are stuck in biology and chemistry for lesser retards.

Chemistry is basic? Little math? Really now. Have you even read a single damned science journal? When was the last time you picked up Nature or Science? I'll think that would be between never and not gonna happen.

To you it seems math = a worthy subject. If biology is oh so very fundimental and easy, and chemistry is nothing but child's play, I'd like to see how you would even do in a upper division class. I liked the "little logical reasoning" part. I herby will say something of similar stupidty: Math is just applying formulas for what fits the situation. Physics is just equations. See how stupid that sounds? That is how you sound right now.

No biologist would hide the fact that Crick was a physicst, although Watson was a zoologist, so I have no idea what the hell you are talking about. Franklin was a chemist as well.

Where the hell do you guys get your complexes from?

Biology is the study of life... why do some feel that "life" is just confined to "fancy" names and a group of apparently self-discovering molecules and enzymes? The study of life as it were indeed is impossible without knowledge of chemistry and physics.

What the hell...dude, most adults I know that have been through COLLEGE or through military training (same thing, only a lot more work :p) are conservative. Most of those who went to universities or rather more ivy league schools are liberal. It's not that they're getting educated--it's that they're halfway educated and think they know everything.

ANYWAYS--Flex, you're wrong. Sorry, you're wrong. Chemistry involves TONS of mathematics. I mean even in Chem 1 at the HS level we did way too much of it. And we didn't get into carbon bonds (whatever you call it) and all that crap. Gah.

but high school level is still very basic mathematics. You don't get to the really complicated stuff until first or second year of uni (third or fourth in the american system or whatever that system is called).

Flex, you and Mr. 0 seem to treat biology as either a non-science or something that has absolutley nothing to do with critical or logical thinking. The recent jab at chemistry also makes it appear neither of you have explored either feild above high school, due to your demonstrated ignorance.

Biology is just another tree of knowledge. Biologists don't segregate themselves off... you guys have a very odd understanding of science at least. What the hell are you and 0? At least it seems both of you have very little understanding of any feild or what it entails. 0 called biology "parasitc". Apart from the ironic choice of words, I must ask what he is smoking, because that stuff is damn good.

I think everyone sees a "hierarchy" of sciences. The most basic is physics, building on that is chemistry, and building on both is biology. Math is a language that is used to express the natural world. This isn't red versus blue, this is science. Why are you guys seemingly picking a "side"?

My point exactly!

Imagine what it'll be like at even higher levels of mathematics. And just because something doesn't use math does NOT mean something is stupid or requires little to no intelligence to learn. Seriously, your assumptions are just wrong.
