GothiX: Tutorials geared towards n00bs and more experienced mappers. Like take the most common questions found in the editing forums and slap them together as a tutorial. Make sense?

As far as a skin pack, 400 MB?? Just how many skins are needed/wanted?? Sheesh. But, if such a large skin pack is wanted, how about breaking it up. One pack soley for sabers, one for skins and models, and another for..whatever. The files would still be large wouldn't they.

T-SHIRTS!

The shirts don't neccessarily have to say "massassi.net" or whatever on them. Because of the whole legal and copyright thing, phrases/quotes or otherthings that only massassians would know about. I just want a shirt. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Well, it appears that the stereotypical image of a JO level is a collection of hollowed out cubes with a bunch of Reborns running around.

But there are good amount of JO levels that are wonderful.

I would like most the ability to search for things in the forums like FuseTalk has. I sometimes would like to catch up on whatever certain showcase authors have made in the interstices of my visits and those owned pics are just too funny. Yep.

To touch on the "harder to find community websites" point, you'll be hard pressed to find more community orriented sites than underground hacking communities. This is namely because generally speaking it's next to impossible to "stumble" upon them. I go to a few that I found back in my EFnet days. If anybody ever thought Massassi had even a little sect of elitists (see sig), SiliconToad is the Epitome of Elitism.

I say nay to the forum status/ranking idea save for the appropriate titles (admin/mod)

Do we really want a ranking system for the EC? I personally don't fancy that idea. It seems a bit competative, and may discourage some people from posting their work.

If this was brought up, I apologise... its late and I didn't feel like reading through 6 pages. I just wanted to express my opinion on the matter.

Bring back the Massassi Level Packs! Whatever happened to them? We need ones for JA! (and, ok , maybe for the freaks who are determined to keep JK alive no matter how rotten its bloated corpse has gotten. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif])

Also, refine the rules of the EC so that people like Rod-wan aren't allowed to use the EC as their own personal webhost for their pictures, especially when you consider that I don't think I've ever seen him post an editing pic on the showcase in at least a year. Now it's all just him in his horribly nerdy cosplay outfits... I mean really, just peruse through his "collection"...

Mr. Alias brings up good points. But I think a ranking/voting system for the EC would be good. Competition always breeds excellence. Yes, some might be frightened to post work seeing high ranking images. But I'm sure others would see these and try to meet or beat the ranking.

For the EC rating thing, its mostly there to help make the SotD easier, right? Is there a way to make the rating system work only on a daily basis? Each day, have the slate cleaned off? That way, the "fear of compeition" is lessened substantially, and you still have a way for using it for SotD.

Thoughts?

A daily basis would be fine. Maybe there should just be a link "vote for this!" instead of a good/bad rating system. That way, people don't feel bad because their work isn't called "bad" - it's just not called "exceptional"

Maybe an option in the EC to allow the author to 'submit' an image for SotD voting? In the sense that they load the image normally, but have an option to enable/disable voting for what they post. Not everything posted in the EC is a finished product.

For example, an author posts progress shots and chooses to disable the ranking or voting feature for these images, but when he/she posted the final product, he/she enables the option. This would divide the EC into two fields, the first being the normal Editors Corner, and the second being 'Ranked Images' or something along those lines.

From other forums I frequent I've become fond of a "Skip to first unread post" link on every thread, and also a "View New/Updated threads" search feature.

We've already kind of got those, because the updated threads have a different icon next to them, and if you want to go to the newest posts you can just click on the last page and scroll to a new post, but links that would do it for you would be nice.

Everything else can stay the same.

That's a good idea, Mr. Alias. Maybe just a checkbox for "enable rankings" and leave it at that. I'll think more about it.

How about contacting the QTracker dude and seeing if we can create an IP board to use with QTracker. Or at least an IP board with stats of games like JK.net had a long time ago. That would be great. For instance you might see something like this:

Code:
 - game - - level - - Plyrs - - Ping -
Tazz's Game Ord Trasi 4/9 258

Comments: Playing Rogue Squadron 2.0 in Assault Mode

I don't know if it could be like GSA or QTracker and have the game disappear when the host disconnects, but that would be cool too. Dunno if any of this can be done with PHP. Just a thought.

Why I love massassi:

Really, whenever I got in trouble, I used to hate it. But I've realized thats petty kid stuff.

Good to see you back Bri.

When I started editing, it was just a silly mod (Fuurgh Wars.) but people liked me, it inspired confidence. Next I belive was a SMHQ-esque remix of K-72. (K-72 S.E and K-72 Classic)

After that, I've put alittle work into my new level (Shippie the ship, unrelleased)

My first 'level' (The Remix) got a 9, do you know how much confidance that inspires in a beginner? even a lower rank such as 7 or 8 makes you feel great It makes you feel proud.

not all newbies are great, but I have a suggestion that they hang around for a while, rellease small things. and remmber.

Don't be afraid to rellease your first level, unlike what everyone else says.

.....Aslong as its not a box, speaking of which, I have to reallease my first level, not as horrible as most peoples.

paper thin walls, but fun for testing mods. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

mmm, rain effect!
I still admire my first level, for its sheer cheesyness yet creativity. its so fun to play on occasion. just a neat level to mess around in. Though it sucks, most of my archi was done with JK 3dos, I find it cool how I learned to make archi out of ordinary objects. and made it look good. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

My love of editing games (Especially jk) has not died, its just on hold for a while. I owe allot to massassi, had I not gotten the support, the responce, and the friends in the community. I don't think I'd edit at all.

I love you guys. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] awwwww.

Anyways, its 0827 EST. Gotta run.
