Sure, we just need a server for it.

*cough* I tried. 2 people joined over the corse of a week. If you all show some serious interest, I'll turn it back on again. Until then...

Categorize the downloads by first letter of the name, instead of by page number. When I know what I want, I like to be able to know exactly what page it's on, and arranging the pages by letter would make it just that much easier to find.
2003-11-09, 7:56 PM #244
That's a great idea, at0m, but have you tried the level search engine?
2003-11-09, 11:21 PM #245
The window on the front page that shows the latest files should have a togglable option like "View files from the past two days" and so on. As of right now, if more than a handful of files are posted on the same day, the 'recent files' option is pointless because not all of the recent files are listed. You essentially have to scroll down and check the news to see all of the recently added files.

The recent files box would have to be able to scroll as well, so it can still be a small box on the main page and not clutter Massassi's pretty face. My suggestion is to give users the option to view recently posted files from a time span of... 30 days. If this was all suggested before, or if this was already planned, that's great [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Having just got reconnected to the internet in my new house (woohoo!) I find THE brian to be back (WOOHOO!)...

it's all good!

Not much to add (all those css things are scaring me, I'm not at all familiar with stuff that complexicated!), just...

Keep it green, keep it quick, clean and simple, and please, more tutorials - the reason I never got into JO was that this place didn't seem to offer the help (I'm sure if i wanted i could've looked around, but frankly I didn't want to!).

You can already do that, at0m.

I have another idea for the Editor's Corner, though its about policing the EC. Currently there are three people (names will go un-mentioned) that post non-editing related material in the EC. They basically use it as their personal web space to post pictures of themselves and of friends. I would like to see more staff working specifically for those who post honest game related material on the EC; essentially EC admins that have the ability to remove images/users that do not meet with the requirements of using the EC.

To elaborate more on this, what I mean is having at least 5 staff members that who check the EC on a daily basis to make sure everyone is following the rules. Hopefully this would reduce clutter on the EC. Just an idea.

Alias, if you see someone abusing the EC, don't just post here and refuse to name names. E-mail the staff! If you report it then we (or they, now) will do something about it! If you don't, and the staff doesn't see it, then no, it won't be deleted. If you want something done about it, and you know where the abuse is, do a little something yourself and tell the staff. Sheesh.

It would have been inappropriate for me to post their names in this topic, thats why I didn't. My post wasn't about ratting people out, it was about making a suggestion or a wish that there were staff members who focus specifically on policing the EC. If you want to know who these people are, then let me know who to contact.

That gives me another idea actually, rather than having staff checking the EC, just add a 'report abuse' option, much like in the comments/critisism feature for level posting.

I'll put a "report abuse" link on ECs like we have on level comments in the next incarnation.

Don't really know if this has been mentioned and I'm not about to read 6 pages to find out, but check out this page.

That black space needs to go. Should be easy to eliminate.

What black space?

I don't have much to contribute as far as suggestions, but I would like to see a music/sounds forum (as others have mentioned).

There used to be an IP board for JK here as part of the Massassi Player Group (MPG). I used it quite a bit, but I guess they didn't keep it up because there were only a few of us that did. It's so easy to host JK/MotS games through Qtracker now using Qt-Uplink, that I'm not even sure it would be worth the trouble (could be done in CGI like the old jediBoard). Ron Mercer (creator of Qtracker), is quite accessible through e-mail (he's responded to all of my e-mails over the years), if you folks are indeed interested (www.qtracker.com). I thought about creating a server board myself, but I'm too busy with school to bother learning CGI. I'm not big on chatting, but I love playing JK/MotS, so it would be nice not having to camp in #MassGames for 3 days just to get a game. Long live Qtracker! That huge chunk of it between the preview of the level and the user comments. They just don't look right, almost like a footer to the page.

Notice to the right, you have all Level Info, Screenshots, etc? If you can figure out how to get rid of the black space and still have that in the same spot...

Err, I was going to make a working example but I've have to rewrite the whole page, which I'm not gonna do right now.

Basically all you'd have to do is make that level info it's own table and align it to the right.

Damnit didn't notice that the User comments consisted of a bunch of tables [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif].

Oh well, just put the comments table inside the same column as the description.

I don't want to put it all in the same table because then it will start taking forever to load. The idea was to have the comments in a separate table so the browser can render the top part before it downloads all the user comments.

Good point, see what you're talking about. I'll try and think of something!

dont know if its been posted yet, but just a small thing that irritates me. If you reply to a thread with more than one page... why does it not take you to the page your post is on, instead of the first page which you probably already read.

That's a feature of UBB and probably not much I can do about it. Anyway, if/when we use new forums, it may not be an issue.

Sorry for digging this up but its relevant... we need a new chat server the one we are using right now is awful its always going down. I know this has been bought up before but maybe just some reiteration(sp).
