Jed does this, actually. I can't remember the keys, though, and I'm in linux right now so I can't look it up.

I've looked and looked and there is no such thing.. Remember, two *existing* sectors, so I'm not talking about ctrl+x or shift+x. (extrude&expand and extrude, respectively)

If I'm understanding you correctly, you want the 'join' feature--select the surfaces and press 'j'

Sweet, I found it right before you posted, obi. thanks.

This makes my life much easier. :)

Oh wow, I never knew about that feature, either! Thanks a lot. :D

(PS, if you want new textures, you can always check the JO/JA texture list thread :v: )

im at 367 sectors so far :v:

Well, I tried getting JK/Zed up and running under Wine, without much luck. JK installs fine, but when run, it goes to a really slow screen resolution and I can't make it do anything. I tried the different modes (2000, XP) with no luck. Zed runs a lot better, but not good enough to be usable. The 3d preview only works in OpenGL mode, not either D3D RM/IM, and it's okay, except it's buggy when clicking on surfaces in 3d preview, it only selects the correct surface some of the time. I believe this is a really old bug with Jed and I always worked around it by using D3D 3d preview. The wireframe part works fine.

I'll just install Windows on my laptop so I can work from there. Blah.

My level archi is done. I have 7 sectors.

I would definitely be interested... only problem is I can't even run JK on this computer because of a complicated problem with my OS.

im at 105 sectors.. level is probably a quarter of the way done

I'm at 143 sectors right now, and I don't know how big I'm going to make this map. I'd say I'm not even a fifth of the way done.

I'm not using 16-bit maps for this project, so detail isn't going to be insane. Right now I'm trying to get the whole map fleshed out so that cogging can begin. After that, I'll start getting a bit more in-depth.

After debating for some time if it was worth it, I have decided to reinstall JK and create something for this contest. Let's see if I still have it in me.

Awesome! My level is 90% done... on paper.
2007-08-08, 4:36 PM #139
So, for the contest, is it going to be a prize for each game (one for JK, one for JO/JA?) or just one overall prize. I think JO/JA has a distinct advantage in the prettyness department.

Except it loses in the coding department. You can't do all the unique things JK can do in SP (such as making different, interesting weapons).

I was planning on one grand prize, but we could reconsider if there is more than one really standout level.
2007-08-08, 9:28 PM #142
...or if there is more than one level. ;)

Count me in on this. I should be able to put something small together in two months. Ok, little less than two months, but as noted, it doesn't have to be long. Heck, just two of my usual cutscenes in JA would almost cover the 10 minute time thing.

We shall see.

Last time I checked, my rote level has 4,823 brushes and 1,706 entities. The level is about 90% complete. I still need to finished rewriting all the scripts that I lost 5 years ago as well as some misc things like custom models and textures. The level also needs a proper ending.

I've decided to participate. I had an old DM level that I started, but it turned out more like the start of an SP level than DM...so I'm continuing it as an actual SP level!

So far, 214 sectors.

I'm going for a sort of anticliche here. It's not an Imperial base you'll be infiltrating, it's a Rebel one.

It'll take place during the original trilogy. And your character may possibly be a certain Emperor's Hand who is female with red hair.

Also one of the objectives will be to leave no witnesses .

I have an idea that's gonna either turn out awesome, or really really suck.
