It has come to my realization that all of Massassi, including all files but excluding the forums, isn't that big, and that I could write my own Massassi web application using my framework of choice, then propose it to the community as a replacement. For that matter you could probably just throw it all in some CMS and be done with it.

Because that would be faster than waiting for this thread to go somewhere. :colbert:

Has it occurred to anyone that there might be a case of NIH floating around? :) Why reinvent the wheel, again? It seems to me that the best thing to do would be to use an existing CMS that is well-maintained; something like Drupal, etc.

I was already considering Drupal if you bothered to read >.>

But just throwing Drupal on here isn't going to be enough. There will need to be serious modifications made to the system in order to get the kind of integration needed to pull this off as far as the forums are concerned. And VB is not exactly the simplest piece of software to modify in such a way.

The files database is rather trivial now that it's all held in a mysql db, that's not the problem.

Yes that is why I was considering Drupal, but unfortunately even the best one of those doesn't support Drupal 6.

I would eventually notice, but I think we would all find out about as soon as someone makes a thread.

At least once a month I have an urge to put random news updates nonsense on the front page. I don't do it because I consider that abusing my privileges, but I don't think anyone would notice.

I would notice because the main page is still my homepage. I have yet to find any other site that serves as well.

I'd notice too, because I still go through the main page to get to the farms.

I doubt he looks at the front page. :ninja:

You know I've been working with code igniter a lot lately and we could throw together something pretty quick using it.

A lot of people on here could throw something together pretty quick. The trick is in throwing the right thing together.
