I do believe that is an ad homonem fallacy, an argumentative fallacy where one person bases his argument on the premise that his opponent is gay. Not to be confused with phallusy fallacy.

That's kind of a generalization don't you think? It would be pretentious to make an argument with little substance, backed up only by large, impressive words, but everyone here is familiar with the term straw man. I kept referencing it because he kept doing it.

Overt, unnecessary, use of impressive sounding terms can be pretensions, yes, but it's equally stupid to tie your hands behind your back when certain terms have an actual use.
