Yes, the achievements leaked today also.

i hope it does because im sure someone once said something about it working in games for windows and not other games, if thats true then its ****

An interesting new development. It might be a hoax though, the last one looks fishy.

Uh, the xbox controller works on PC just like any other game pad would. I have both wired and wireless on my PC.

This. It has drivers that make it behave just like any typical PC gamepad. I'm pretty sure as far as Games for Windows is concerned all it means is all games have to be able to support the 360 controller.

GTA4 takes place in present day, right? That'll be cool, I'm tired of being stuck in the 80s and 90s (though the alternative radio station in SA had some pretty good music).
2008-03-30, 5:28 PM #46
Yes it does, and it has 36* radio station so theres plenty of music.

14 stations last I heard. As long as one of those is Classic Rock, I'll be happy.

Regarding the xbox controller deal, it does indeed work for any game that has decent controller detection.
And for games that don't I recommend using either joytokey (simple and easy) or Xpadder (complicated at first, but awesome when you get it going).
Both programs have the basic concept of allowing you to assign buttons and joystick movements to key presses, mouse clicks and moue-movements, allowing you to get joysticks working for any game.

Oh, Xpadder is primarily designed for xbox controllers, but works with any.

I'm sure he's written most of the radio dialogue for the last 5 games so I'm sure he'll be back.

:P

If you're talking about GTA:SA, I found them all OK with the exception of the stupid barrel roll off the ramp one. I landed that a couple times with sub-70 scores out of dozens of tries. Eventually I got 86 somehow and so I just stopped there and moved on to the next one.

I finished the plane stuff... I'm actually ok with the planes now, the camera angle might be part of why it's occasionally a bit touchy (I don't like in general how the camera keeps snapping back if you don't move it regularly).

I've been playing some MTA with a friend. Good stuff. Is SA:MP better though? Especially in the sense where there's pedestrians and AI and cars to jack all over and stuff. The emptiness of MTA sorta hurts the sandbox-ness-fun of GTA.

Also Worth Noting: GTA with an actual new engine instead of the same one they've been using for half a decade.

You gotta remember though, the things they accomplished on that engine with the weak PS2 hardware it was originally designed for is pretty stellar. Going from terrible GTA3 with load times and sectioned maps, to VAST mapped san andreas with no sectioned maps and pretty good load times. Flying around in a jet on SA was a nice feat for PS2 to accomplish without destroying framerate. Granted the object draw distance wasn't amazing, but still... Hats off to rockstar.

It kindof makes me wonder what could be done if devolpers are forced to make games work on the absolute minimum hardware.

They did some amazing things with the PS2, even with its crappy hardware.

Edit: Although my claim still stands. He really did not need to thread bump three times.

After watching the Gametrailers review, I'm actually excited about this game. I really didn't care for it at all until now.

Vice City has done it, but with 32 people. Same with SA.

You obviously don't play the PC versions, which are far superior.

That looks like a pretty empty city in those screenshots. Rockstar's online will actually have NPCs everywhere. Plus, you're sure to have a larger user base with the actual game than you will with a mod.

Sexcellent.

/me hugs Kirbs.

I've not bought a game on the strength of a review (i.e. not friends/you lot too) since my Mega Drive. I am most excited. :neckbeard:

a few reviews have come online already...

scary to say this but, everyone I've seen so far has been 9+...most in fact are 9.5+.

looks to actually be the best ever GTA as TE said.

A few are even giving it a perfect 10, including IGN. I was going to buy it regardless of reviews. I've had faith in Rockstar since playing the first GTA.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the prostitutes.

They're pretty hardcore for a game, look them up on youtube. Will be very surprised if there's no uproar at that part of the game alone.
Sneaky sneaks. I'm actually a werewolf. Woof.

The game is 18 certificate here, and its equivalent stateside. There's no reason to get up in arms about anything other than illegal trading to under-age youths or bad parenting.
