It's ice. With runewords from Arthas' Sword, Frostmourne, in the ice.

It's either something to do with WoW, or something to do with Arthas/The Lich King. (Perhaps an Arthas 3rd person action game?!)

I wouldn't play a Diablo III if it played at all like a Diablo II.

Weapons with random qualities were neat the first few times you dealt with them. Just like the lack of a good narrative, or compelling/interesting gameplay. It was okay then, but I think as Hellgate: London has showed the bar is much higher now.

It's going to be the Wrath of the Lich King release date.

Blizzard is hiring for a top-secret next-gen MMO so that's worth speculation, but there's no way they'd be announcing it this early.

I'm not convinced that this is only related to WotLK (if at all).

Blizzard is damn good at keeping people on there toes with this stuff. There's hints at both WotLK (depending on how you see that first rune) and Diablo, at the moment.

IGN has an article that says there's a DIABLO II rune, so it's probably for diablo III or a Diablo MMORPG, or a Diablo FPS (though one of those might be unlikely)

Its probably for wrath of the fuzzywuzzy king. The Deathknight hero class has a runes system, so I wouldnt be surprised they just recycled the D2 runestones for this case.

Yeah, the little glyph looks exactly like one in the "ice". Perhaps this is the reveal of a release date?

Possibly it's a reveal of all 3 release dates? Diablo 3 is most certainly coming, as they bought a few of the domain names from fan sites, and have been hinting at it for a few weeks now. That doesn't mean this is about D3, but if we've got elements from WoW, Starcraft, AND Diablo all in one image, maybe they're releasing all of their release dates?

OR they're making a game that combines all 3 of the above into a persistent world!

I don't see why they'd announce a release date for a game that hasn't even been announced (Diablo 3).

It may not have anything to do with the three.

Each rune we've seen thus far is from 3 separate games. There's also a couple days left until the invitational in Europe.

Assuming they continue with this pattern, the real question is: "what games are the next runes going to be from?" Blackthorne maybe? Who knows.

Its somewhat the same story each year though. They put little tid bits of images, and I know at least last year it was also a tid bit from diablo, one from star craft and one from warcraft. People speculated Diablo 3. Yet the time came there was no Diablo 3 announcement. There was Starcraft 2 though.

There was a time where I'd jump right in there with you and give anything for Diablo III, but as I've been constantly let down by Blizzard with hope for a third edition to the franchise I've pretty much given up hope. I've also grown fond of LOTRO now, and unless Diablo III was released in a few years I probably wouldn't be willing to drop LOTRO.
