As they kept arguing about during the debates, Obama favors a timeline for withdrawal and McCain favors no set timeline (that is, Obama says "lets lay down a plan and carry it out" and McCain says "lets trust our generals to let us know when we should start moving out," in their own words)

Yeah, like they keep bringing up minor 'issues' that take advantage of homophobes, for example.

The most important things to me are energy solutions and stem cell research/abortion rights. Obama wins on that front, Obama gets my vote. I could care less about whether or not gays are "married" as long as civil union becomes more widespread (as it is) and they get the same rights.

Iraq matters too but either president is going to have tons of criticism on how they handle it no matter if they withdrew the day they got in office (impossible) or stayed for another 20 years. There isn't any clear answer, but I would like an at least 90% withdrawal as soon as possible.

One thing obama hasn't been clear on (at least that I know of) is foreign policy, of which he has no experience and no real concise plan.

The reason people's votes don't matter is because they think their votes don't matter. If you got over this idea that you HAVE to vote for one of the two, otherwise you're throwing your vote away, we would have a viable third party tomorrow. And then we could get rid of all this bull****, and people would actually have a chance to vote for someone they agree with, and not waste their time figuring out which of the 'only two that stand a chance' they disagree with less.

Two candidates just isn't enough.

Completely agree.

Exactly.

But do you realize how impossible that would be? The Reps and the Dems will do anything to keep control. That's why they set up the Debate Commission thing... so they could lock out 3rd parties and set up their own rules.

But seriously, Obama. If I even wake up in time to vote today. Does not look like it's happening though.

Also, Obama wins the first town of the election with 15 out of 21 votes.

It says 100% of registered voters showed up, so I guess the town (75 residents) only had 21 registered voters.

What a bunch of rubes. Not a single write-in or 3rd party candidate? Or even possible statement of defiance by non-vote?

Actually, it's pretty incredible that they all showed up.

It's also interesting that in a town that has voted red since 1968, Obama won by like 40 percent.

The highest nationwide share any third-party candidate is going to get in this election is about 2%. In a town of 21 registered voters, it's no surprise that none of them voted third-party.

Not a US citizen, but if I had to choose between McCain and Obama, I'd vote Obama. That said, I probably wouldn't vote for him if he were a candidate over here, because there would be a lot of candidates that come closer to my personal ideals. That's what sucks about choosing the lesser of two evils.

People in the US should vote 3rd party candidates en masse.

What really pisses me off is that where I live there's a disturbing trend of more and more people giving their vote to one of the big parties just because they feel their votes won't matter if they don't. Which is not true, because small parties have grown into big ones in the past, and vice versa.

Well, the ballots will be counted through the evening and well into the morning. And then the inevitable recount. My guess is within the week.

Not all the maps will be the same (Google ones included), since the projections by diff networks will be different.

A couple networks have called West Virginia for McCain now, pushing his lead to 13-3.

Just for your reference, here are some other trackers:

CNN just called Pennsylvania for Obama. McCain's gambit didn't pay off, and now there's very little chance he wins.
