I would have voted for Obama if I remembered to register in time.

I think the most recent calls for Obama are Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and New York. Those states weren't called earlier because because their polls hadn't closed yet.

With both Pennsylvania and Ohio going to Obama, there's pretty much no chance of McCain winning as I understand.
Life is beautiful.

I think they consider 330+ electorals a landslide.

I'm betting on a landslide.

I'm a bit confused -- New Mexico is reporting that Obama is significantly behind in the popular vote, but pretty much all the networks have called it for him. Am I missing something?

I think because of exit polling they can safely call it.
Think while it's still legal.

Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the next President of the United States

Barack Obama

With the victory in Ohio, Obama needs to win CA, OR, and WA to claim victory. Solidly Democratic states.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

The networks are making the call from their exit polls, which they don't seem to be releasing. The numbers you're seeing are the officially reported vote totals as they're counted. Right now only 5% of New Mexico precincts have reported their vote counts, not enough to really represent what's going on in New Mexico.

Living in NM, I'd say most the support seemed to be with Obama.

An historic sounds as good as a historic, but historic still doesn't start with a vowel.

No it isn't. It's an affectation that's become popular because people think it makes them sound smart.

Yeah, since 'H' has no phonetic representation, it's correct to use "an" because the letter following is a vowel, and overall the first sound "in historic" is close to a vowel sound.

I can't believe we're arguing about this in a thread about politics, but no American speaker says "istoric." You don't live in an house.

It's more like "an hour".

But indeed, this will go down in Massassi history -- when Barack Obama became President-elect of the United States, Massassi was arguing about "an history".

Yeah, but you pronounce the "h" in "historic". You don't in "hour".
