The update won't be out till the end of the week (probably friday) if it's like every other update.

So I assume this will be projectile base like Sandman ball and Flaregun?

Maybe it's good to see Snipers in the front lines once in awhile rather than half-a-mile away.

Yeah, I'm sick of snipers sniping.

Or as the TF2 team sorta describes it, killing you from half a map away while you can't touch them. :smith:

What else is a sniper supposed to do before this update? lol

Slightly off topic, but if I'm going to start playing Team Fortress 2 right now, am I going to constantly get owned from all the vets?
2009-05-12, 5:05 PM #13
You can snipe and still be CREDIT TO TEAM by moving up to where the action is while still keeping some distance.

The bow-and-arrow unlock will allow me to feel like RAMBO.

On public servers, there are plenty of cannon fodder to go around.

Kill enemy spies by randomly turning around and swinging wildly w/ kukri :tinfoil:

Whats the point of moving up to the where the action is when you can see where the action is? For god sakes, they are a sniper... dont ***** about the only advantage they have.

I feel like this is kind of like in SWG when the smugglers were complaining about being unable to smuggle things.

Snipers snipe.
Smugglers smuggle.

Let them do their jobs.

The only good snipers really are right now, is keeping the other teams snipers in check. If theres not someone sniping the snipers, they don't really have to watch out much.

Unless there's a competent spy/pyro/demoman/soldier on their team.

The best part about TF2 is that you don't exactly have to be 100% good to be useful. Giving the classes special abilities and skills that the others cannot access makes it easy to contribute something vital, simply because you selected the class you did.

Just don't play snipers, scouts, or heavy and you'll be fine. Watch good engineers build and learn how to best defend certain places before you go hogwild building, too. There's nothing more annoying than an unsecure base because the engie thought his neat spot would be perfect.

I'm with KOP, when I play sniper (in most games, typ. BF2) I'm usually playing a counter-sniper role. In general a good sniper doesn't go for a ton of random kills, they go for the important ones. If that means not taking a shot for 5 minutes while I stalk someone, so be it :P

I'm sorry, but killing 15 people in a row on warpath (god I love sniping that map) and allowing my team to powerhouse through the next 3 points makes me think that snipers are definitely useful.

but that just says more about the other team than anything else. something tells me you need better opponents. (or that the map is way unbalanced)

That just means there isnt a sniper force on the other team to counter you, because thats what it takes on that particular map.

Also, whoever said heavy's arent useful... Heavy + Dispenser behind a corner = death.

No, I just killed the two snipers who were supposed to take me out.

I like the fact that the arrows will continue to stay stuck in the opponent if you hit them and they don't die :D

It's like Turok 2 multiplayer all over again. Not that I have a problem with that.
2009-05-13, 8:22 AM #28
I like this idea. Will be differen't, but probably going to be annoying for those who 'aren't' snipers. Its not like they need another way to kill us lol.
mirite?

I'll dodge those silly arrows! BONK!

There's a good chance we'll see one this week. They usually release one in tandem with updates, last update was just a letdown.

Woo. New updates!

New mode!

And new Arena maps! Although I don't really care for Arena. I can't get into it. :(

The whole concept of pushing carts or "karts" seem interesting. Itwould be sweet if you could use the carts as cover.

Have you never played a payload map before?

You can hide behind the carts, as a matter of fact, it's probably the best idea.

:carl:

Look, it's OK that you've never played TF2, but you don't have to try and pretend you have! Just go get it, it's like $20.

[Edit: wtf lamer removed his video, now I have to find a new one]

I've played it plenty of times, just not on my own computer :ninja:. My computer isn't good enough to run it. Total, I've only played about 6-7 hours of TF2 on a friend's computer.

EDIT: I get my TF2 fix with Gang Garrison 2 anyway :P
