Guy chases cop for speeding and pulls HIM over
2009-05-28, 11:21 AM #1
I dont know if you guys have heard about this or not before, but I recall there was an argument here a couple of months ago. I recall someone trying to tell me that police never speed when they aren't supposed to, or that they never go through red lights with their sirens on only to turn them off right after and cruise along, due to there being all kinds of ways of tracking it, etc.

Here's your video proof. LOL at the cop, although this kid is extremely lucky he didn't get some sort of beating or something. Although we don't see him I suspect he must have been rather large sized for the cop to not have tried anything.

LANGUAGE WARNING

PS - There is also zero argument that what this kid did was entirely stupid, and he is a hypocrite for doing it. However, he is also a hero for doing what most people immediately think of doing when they see a cop do the same thing, but don't have the balls to actually do themselves. Nonetheless, without question, he put the lives of himself and other pedestrians on the line as well as the police officer's. This overrides any heroism he had or message he was trying to get across, but it's still hilarious to see a cop get what he deserves.

hahahahaha if you did that to a monroe county sheriff they would most certainly beat your ***.

I wouldn't call that heroic...

Mr. Civic made the situation much more dangerous than it already was...should've been cited for reckless op or something. IMO.

Yes because when i see a cop speeding I go "omg that guys a *******." Heaven forbid they're trying to respond to a call quickly. Sure it's annoying when a cop goes through a red light, but the 'heroic' thing to do isnt pull the cop over. That makes you a tool.

Sorry mb, I didn't know you stood for me and everyone else that feels likewise :carl: I'll try to take that into consideration when I'm making an assumption of the world, or people, or a population, or someone that I've known to illustrate the same feelings: "I wonder what mb would think, because THAT'S exactly how I would feel also". Also: Read the rest of my post after I said that, instead of nitpicking at that part just so you can get on my balls :)

Seeing as you're the cop, I might as well direct it to you. Why exactly didn't the officer turn around and cite him for that? I was waiting for that to happen.

Beats me.

Try to take that into consideration when you're making an assumption of the world, or people, or a population, or someone that you've known to illustrate the same feelings: "I wonder what JLee would think, because THAT'S exactly how all cops would feel also".

I'm not saying you can't have an opinion on the matter.

Cops around here do it all the time, speeding 20mph over without having their lights on. IMO they should all be cited. If they're on a call they should turn on their damn lights.

Yes, but who would actually argue this? The only reason to bring the kid up would be as a red-herring for discussing the cops WTF activity.

Like seriously, that is the most random unprovoked rant I've seen on massassi, and that's saying something!

The kid deserved being arrested. Honestly a cop should feel nervous when a vehicle is trailing him. He should have called for backup, then I'd like to see what this ******* would say.
Nothing to see here, move along.
2009-05-28, 12:35 PM #21
Probably the same thing he said when the cop finally confronted him. Why do they always need to feel nervous? What if a person who needed protection and service was following a cop?

Last I checked you weren't DJ Yoshi :hist101: But I wasn't arguing my opinion.. I thought I made it clear that I didn't advocate what he did and that the guy was completely in the wrong. My only opinion on the matter, as I stated at the end of my post, is that it's hilarious to see a cop get the other end of the stick for once, even though the guy that did it was a complete moron and hypocrite and just as much in the wrong (moreso for not being an actual cop) in doing so.

Of course he is. I was being sarcastic silly. Hence the reference to Hitchhikers Guide.

I don't know. A silly goose. I was moreso using it as a disclaimer for myself since I figured people might interpret that I was condoning what he did.

I don't know if I can associate that with you though because you don't seem to be the typical ego-centric power-tripping police officer that you usually run across.

I see cops here turn/change lanes without signalling all the time and it pisses me off. :(

Hahah, this guy has some balls. A horrendously stupid thing to do, but balls nonetheless, and awesome to watch!

The only thing that irritates me is either when they pull you over for rediculous **** (ie wheels sticking too far out, car too low) or when they ride your *** on the highway when they have no intention of pulling you over and there is 3 other lanes perfectly clear.

That and the attitude/name calling when you're pulled over. If your being polite its completely uncalled for.

Everyone knows there are bad cops out there, to a variety of degrees. I am sure there are plenty that speed, but they should have the same equipment EMS and other emergency vehicles do. I have a friend that works Fire/EMS and their trucks are equipped with monitors, if they are speeding over 5mph without running code (lights & sirens) then they get a beep tone in the cabin to slow down, if they don't then they are automatically cited (written up) by the superior.

Even with lights and sirens on, most emergency vehicles are only allowed to exceed speed limits by 10-15mph (with the exception of high speed chases, but I think even those are limited to around 100mph where the threat to the officers and the public becomes too great.)

I actually agree with SF_Gold. I would've come out of my squad car, gun in hand. Psychotic *******. I mean, maybe report his car number if you can catch it, but to chase the guy down and then harass him in the middle of nowhere is scary.

Poetic justice. I hate it when cops abuse their power.

(Yes I know cops can speed when there is a call, but they need to have their lights on for that, right? This guy was just straight up speeding. :ninja: )
DO NOT WANT.
2009-05-28, 1:21 PM #29
But what if they don't have their lights on because they don't want the suspect to see them and flee?

I don't know if it ever works like that though...and I guess they could always turn them off when they're near the scene.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
2009-05-28, 1:27 PM #30
Also, doesn't going over the speed limit by a certain amount turn into a reckless endangerment ticket, rather than a speeding ticket?

I'm fine with cops speeding, and with speeding in general, but at a certain point I thought going over a certain amount is considered reckless driving, something the cop should have known.

This is just an actual question, not trying to justify any actions during the video

25 over is 'criminal speeding'. Can't remember if you have to do time for that, or pay a fine.

Speeding at code 3 saves very little time in getting to an emergency scene given that the driver has to stop and every intersection to make sure it is safe to cross.

In Virginia, police officers are not bound by traffic laws while within their jurisdiction.

Meaning, it's not illegal for that deputy to go 90, with or without lights. Just stupid.

I've seen police cars in traffic queues turn on the lights and sirens, skip ahead and then turn the sirens off. I'm sure that isn't allowed, not even ambulances are allowed to do that if it's not an emergency.
