He'll probably see it's about antisemites and move on, yeah.

Haha who the **** unironically likes Ben Shapiro, nonetheless likes his ass on Facebook?

Reid I think you're taking 4chan a bit too literally.

Well, if the only people you hang out with watch Fox News, then you're going to reflect those views either way.

He did unironically bring up JIDF, which from what little I know of /pol/ is a meme there so...

From the standpoint of a conservative, what's wrong with Ben Shapiro besides his height and the fact that he's Jewish?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The only thing I intended to confess to was bringing it up. But I'm sure if a conservative did so it would have been unironic as you suggested.

But then again Wookie06 never struck me as the anti-Semitic type of conservative in the slightest. That said, the conspiracy theories peddled by the alt right (and sanctioned for "mainstream" conservative consumption by Sean Hannity and his ilk) are just about as braindead as the really offensive stuff, and it's no surprise to find them blended together on the very worst alt. right hangouts.

I don't really have anything to contribute (as per usual) but I just want to share my observation that I don't think any of us are going to make particularly good climate refugees/be able to not get murdered by other climate refugees.

We can always go back to segregating into barbarian tribes along racial lines.

It seems to be where the political discourse is going anyway, and we know this is what happens in similarly dire examples of confinement such as prison.

Disclaimer: If I were even half serious about this I would be alt. right. It's neither inevitable nor desirable. But for whatever reason, some people seem to want it.

Isn't this what eventually happens to everyone who doesn't recite passages of Nietzsche daily?

I don't know when you first heard of Ben Shapiro, but I didn't know who he was until the alt. right smear campaign.

All I know is he wrote a fiction novel that's supposed to be a satire of libcucks and Obama but is instead a satire of Shapiro's own world view.

Literally Shapiro's main character is a 6'4 "bear of a man" square jaw alpha military hero. And yes Shapiro literally calls the guy a bear. And if you don't know why that's hysterical, well, make more gay friends.

Also features some guy who's a "race hustler" and is basically all 1980's stereotypes of "urban" youth. It was released in like 2015.

No lol I don't claim to know all of the facts or have a definitive, absolutely correct world view. I'm just skating by in my bubble hardly knowing or experiencing most of what's out there.

Then how do you manage to be so... so right all the time?

Okay, I'll give you that his novel sounds pretty cringy on his own right.

I also know the alt-right loved to criticize antifa, because since Shapiro is Jewish and Nazis were antisemitic, it's somehow a total logical contradiction to protest Shapiro's speaking events. (I don't even think antifa was really involved, and frankly it doesn't matter).

I don't know at all what his relationship is with the alt right and I have a hard time, like, remotely caring what they think.

A Jewish man identifying as conservative who criticized Trump. You don't need too much imagination to see why he'd be a laughingstock to them.

But I guess I misjudged when I assumed he couldn't have been made into a laughingstock for entirely other reasons.

I don't get this at all. Anyway, I do like Ben Shapiro but even if I wanted to see what anybody posts on Facebook, like Obama or Trump, I would have to "like" them. "Like" obviously does not equal like universally. Funny, I don't think I've trimmed "Likes" since I purged a lot of "conservatives" that kept posting idiotic pro-Trump posts.

Well, somehow in the Red Dawn universe we're totally susceptible to invasion by Cuba and North Korea so we can't be that defensible.

Actually, while we’re talking about climate refugees, can someone explain survivalist logic to me?

There seems to be this prevailing belief that if the world goes to ****, the people who survive the longest will be... well, gun collectors and subsistence farmers, basically. This never made a lot of sense to me. Catastrophic climate change is a problem precisely because it makes low tech subsistence farming impossible. Under those conditions I would expect being a productive member of an orderly technological civilization to be a massive survival advantage, not a liability. I would expect the civilizations with the best civil and electrical engineers to be most able to adapt to climate change in the long term.

Is there a substantive argument supporting the kind of outcome survivalists seem to actively want? Or is this just Mad Maxian disaster porn? Sorry if that sounds condescending, it is a legitimate question. Although I did intentionally word it somewhat condescendingly because Spook complained about condescension, so maybe I’m not all that sorry.

It really is though, dude. We’re doing the bleeding heart thing now but when push comes to shove we always close our borders. Canada and the US sent Jewish refugees back to the Nazi ovens, put German and Japanese immigrants into prison camps when they got inconvenient, and we’re more than capable of doing it again.

The borders will be soaked with blood before our governments let themselves be destabilized by immigration for real. Mark my words.

There is no logic there, and to demonstrate, nobody at school likes me (except the alcoholic graduate students doing environment and society type ****) because I condescendingly explain that their plans to move to Alaska and farm aren't going to work because you couldn't farm in most of Alaska for most of the Holocene anyway since there is no topsoil or growing season, and even if you could survive off of foraging, which they somehow think would be a fulfilling life, we are dealing with a general collapse of the current configuration of the biosphere which will make that impossible too.

4 degrees of warming (a conservative estimate of where we are going, and let's be honest 2.5-3 will probably do in most of our global order) is likely incompatible with an technological civilization that relies on global supply chains given our current and expected level of technology though, so that needs some restructuring before it's going to help anyone either.

It's mostly based off of the idea that they are badasses though. Kind of like that Jordan Peterson infographic where they think their individualistic ideology is a brave stand that will emerge victorious, when it looks like a losing battle to anyone with half a brain.

New Zealand just banned real estate sales to non residents, didn’t they?

That’s on top of the fact that they’ve always been super strict about who they let in. Unless you have a specific college degree on a specific list it’s probably not going to happen.

Yeah I was hoping my ag degree and the PhD I have been shopping for would get me in, but looks like a PhD is gonna be out of my price range.

That is, unless my crypto holdings moon and make me ungodly rich, and then I can play Bagoas to Jeff Bezos in his New Zealand bunker, no degree required, just lots of squats and lunges.
