HOLY ****!

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/16/vtech.shooting/index.html??2

21 people are confirmed dead now... 20 are wounded... the gunman is dead... that's just crazy... that's a huge body count for something like this. :(

Edit: According to the article, this is the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history.

Yeah, I just loaded up my homepage and it flashed up. That's frightening.

Does anyone have any information about the shooter yet?

It's a safe bet that as soon as it's released, CNN will have it. Until then, nothing. Most likely they're still trying to confirm that the suspected shooter really was the shooter... they wouldn't want to release anything before they're certain of that.

BBC is showing the body count at 29 courtesy of ABC. Perhaps some of the injured didn't make it. :(

I don't get it, how is the gunman arrested and facing charges, and also dead?

:(
2007-04-16, 11:07 AM #22
Confusion - there may be more than one shooter, there may even be more than that I suppose.

Wow. Just wow.
2007-04-16, 11:08 AM #23
All of the articles I've seen say they suspect only one shooter.

I find that too, but there's also footage of a man being arrested. Maybe unrelated, but I'm just guessing.

I for one blame video games.
2007-04-16, 11:26 AM #26
According to this, the 7AM shooter who killed two people was apprehended, but the person who later killed the rest is dead. It is unclear whether the shootings are related but it seems likely.

I blame poor gun control, but that's for another time. :(

Apparently, MSNBC has confirmed the shooter killed himself.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18134671/

Quote:
The deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history was in Killeen, Texas, in 1991, when George Hennard drove his pickup into a Luby’s Cafeteria and shot 23 people to death, then himself.

This tops the deadliest mass shooting ANYHWERE, not just schools, in U.S. history. :(

31 dead now, classified as the worst shooting event in US history. My school's pretty shaken up because we're one of the the closest campuses to VT, and while it's not like they were going to go to VA schools and such but facebook is jammed wiht people trying to make sure their friends are okay
Fincham: Where are you going?
Me: I have no idea
Fincham: I meant where are you sitting. This wasn't an existential question.

I'm across the state at William and Mary. Most people here have several friends at VT... everyone is taking it pretty hard.

I really don't understand university shootings. Normally with high school shootings it's kids who have been picked on and can't take it anymore, that kind of thing. What's the excuse with something like today's events? Everyone leaves you the hell alone in university. Someone fails and takes it out on everyone? I just don't get it.

Ugh, I feel sick.

My condolences to all family members of the victims (even though they won't hear them).

By the way, I went to Foxnews and, well: http://www.menkaapois.net/gm/gallery.php?entry=images/1176751346.jpg
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
