It's officially started tonight. Discuss here all season long.

No score so far in the first game, I'm apathetic to which team wins, so other than it marking the start of a new season, its rather boring.

I'd like the steelers to lose, but yeah, pretty boring game so far. I'm really excited about the season though.

Shawne Merriman's recreational activities aside, I'm afraid you'll have to wait until January to see any chokes from the Chargers.

JG, honest question: Is it unfair of me to call the Chargers choke artists? A friend of mine thinks so, but he's the first person I've ever known to take issue with that label.

Mmmm...kind of. I would agree with you on our 14-2 season. Spectacular season and we're eliminated the first round. That's choking. However, we gave it our all the subsequent post-seasons. We almost ousted the Pats in the AFC title game and we were all bruised and battered.

I don't know. It seems that with all that Brett Favre is saying today, he is basically dooming you guys to failure (which of course I don't mind, but I actually like the Vikings. Love their defense and big Adrian Peterson fan).

I can't believe he is just coming out and saying **** like how he has a cracked rib probably, or how he may not finish the season. Just ludicrous

Brett played pretty damned well with that broken rib a couple weeks ago. But I think it's honestly kind of smart of him to set expectations for his performance lower. A lot of football fans (especially in the Minneapolis and Green Bay camps) look at him as some sort of legend. Don't get me wrong, he's a shoe-in hall of fame QB, and he was great in his prime, but he's an old man who is riddled with injuries right now. He may play a stellar season, but he may not. He intends to pass his knowledge on to the fumblecopter and hopefully improve the overall Vikings QB game.

The Vikings don't really need a great quarterback anyways. They won the north last year without him, I think they are in great shape to do so again (this coming from a lifelong Packer fan)

I don't know, I don't consider that first game he played anything. I mean, you pay 12 million dollars for what Tavaris Jackson can easily do, which is throw a screen? I didn't see him make one pass that game that made it worth the 12 million (potentially 25). He was sacked a couple times, hurried, threw dump passes, and nearly threw two picks. I'm not ragging on him in specific, but more of the stupidity of paying 12 million dollars for anybody to do THAT.

Secondly, that's fine if he wants to set his standards lower, but you don't come out and say that you aren't 100% mental or physical, and that you might not finish the season. Those sound like excuses for potential failure, which to me isn't what you want in the leader of your team.

Anyways I am excited to see how he does tomorrow!
