So wouldn't that make Skyrim day be tomorrow? :ninja:

2011-11-10, 5:29 PM #3
Not for me!
2011-11-10, 6:28 PM #4
I'm going to grab a copy of it tomorrow. I only have cash right now, and there's no way for me to deposit it since there isn't a Navy Federal around here. Looks like I'm buying a hard copy of a pc game for the first time in years.

I'll be sure to play the hell out of it...

when it's on sale this Christmas on Steam. Like hell I'm going to suffer through the bug-ridden nightmare Bethesda inflicts on us every time, and do it at FULL PRICE.

You can put a pot on the head of a shopkeep and then steal things, that's how good the AI is.
2011-11-10, 6:52 PM #7
Getting it tonight. Three hours.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.

It's so good that it doesn't notice/care that someone has placed a pot on its head?
I'm just a little boy.

Didn't Oblivion have a similar shoplifting technique, where you could fill a bucket with valuables, then carry the bucket out of vendor sight to actually put the valuables in inventory without getting caught? Maybe that was Fallout 3...
2011-11-10, 7:32 PM #10
I had this shoplifting technique in Fallout. It was great.

It's really simple. You just hit the ~ key and type tgm. Then you kill the shopkeeper and take everything in the store. Once you exit, you proceed to kill anything and everything that attacks you. It was foolproof.

2011-11-10, 8:02 PM #13
its quite possible that steam will screw over millions of eager pc gamers.
2011-11-10, 8:06 PM #14
No, they won't. Steamguard protects everyone from account control hacks. CC info is leaked regardless of steam being up or down.

Why in the world would you think they'd shut down Steam because of this? They're not Sony, they know how to actually handle a situation.

Financial info was all encrypted (unlike Sony) and passwords were also hashed and salted (unlike Sony). Not to mention, they reported this in short time, AND they've already reset the forum passwords for everyone. In addition, they do not believe the steam accounts are at a security risk, and they do not believe any of that info was taken.
2011-11-10, 8:15 PM #16
I reset my steam password anyway as a precaution, and everyone else should too.

I didn't really like Oblivion. The leveling system sucked and the game felt 'clunky', I guess. Would I like Skyrim?

We'll see about that. What's your length and girth?

If you really didn't like Oblivion, I can't imagine you'd like Skyrim too much. If you can explain a little more about what you didn't like, we could probably tell you what's what.

The leveling is probably the most reworked thing, read up and give it a try

Not even going to discuss this on the internet

This might be the first game I've pirated in several years. I'll eventually buy the GotY edition, but as mentioned: 60 dollars for a buggy version of only half of the game is a rip off.

The perks for each level are about the only reworked part of the leveling system, otherwise it's almost identical to how it worked before.

EDIT: And what do you mean half of the game?

DLCs, Mods, Patches. I tried playing vanilla oblivion the other day and immediately closed out to go download mods and install the DLC. The Unofficial Patch Mod is so absolutely necessary to enjoy that game. I don't see how this game is going to be any different. I might not even torrent it because I know I'll just be eating up content I could play the first time with mods and patches.
