Has anyone else started feeling pretty uncomfortable about the Stormcloak rebellion?

At first I was all yeah totally of course viking rebels, no question. But as I got more into the game I was like.. I really don't see the justification for wanting to overthrow the Empire, they seem to be doing all right by people. And then once some of the Stormcloaks started trying to talk me into their cause, and then going on about Keeping Skyrim For The Nords and killing all the elves or at least deporting them I was like.. dude. Stormcloak == Stormfront. And I did not walk, but ran to the Legion to start to try to fight against the supremecists.

It gets worse, Dormouse. By the time I was at the end of the Stormcloak storyline I had conceded that I had no choice but to restart the game with a new character.

That's funny because I joined up with Imperial's accidently. Before that decision I assumed the game would let me play both sides like a double agent, because it didn't have a problem with me being a Companion/Theif/Mage/Bard/Warrior/Archer and Thane to multiple villages.

Woot for dumb luck.

Yeah, the treatment of the Dunmer in Windhelm should probably have been my first clue that I was about to join the wrong side of this fight. I mean, I'm not perfect. Once, in Oblivion, I may have embarked on a quest to kill every single Argonian in Cyrodiil. But honestly, Stormcloaks, why you gotta be such dicks?

They hate the Thalmor because they're Elves, not because they're awful.

Yeah, they hate the other races because they're other races.

The Dunmer (dark elves) never did anything. They're just refugees.

The rest of the elves can diaf.

The Bosmer aren't outright evil, but most of the ones I've encountered have been pretty annoying. Fortunately there aren't that many of them (I guess the Altmer purges have been somewhat thorough.)

The Altmer are nazis. The Falmer are pure evil, and the Dwemer created them. Not much you can do about the Dwemer though.

I love the entire idea of the whole Dominion thing, but why haven't they dark elves joined?

Too much lore and my game is running like **** so its hard to follow and pay attention half the time

The Altmer think of themselves as being the closest to 'pure' elves, or Aldmer. The Bosmer didn't join, they were subjugated; Valenwood is part of the historical Thalmor territory.

Dark elves were originally indistinguishable from Altmer, and as they migrated to Morrowind they called themselves the Velothi. The daedric prince Azura cursed them with their current appearance and they became known as the Dunmer (for this reason, the Velothi elves are recorded in lore as the Chimer, or 'changed mer,' although they were never actually called that name. The only examples of true Chimer in the games are Vivec, Almalexia and Sotha Sil.)

Yes, basically, but the Thalmor are not dark elves like you said. The Thalmor are high elves (Altmer) who rule the Aldmeri Dominion from Alimor (the combined provinces of Summerset Isle and Valenwood.)

Also, in reference to joining the Stormcloak Rebellion vs joining the Empire.... For some reason when given the choice between a rebellion and an empire I always gravitate toward the rebellion. I get the feeling I'm not the only one on this site who does that.

Yeah... but if judicial punishment was something I really held a grudge about, I sure as hell wouldn't have become The Champion of Cyrodiil.... or... you know... anything you ever did in Morrowind.

Not me. I like to imagine they're white collar criminals who have just had it with the system. Once they're out of the shackles they decide that the only way to get by in this world is to spend your days hacking people to bits, burning them to death with magic, and physically robbing them blind in the middle of the night.

I'm pretty sure the only reason they had you start off about to be executed for no reason is because they spend the rest of the game making the Stormcloaks out to be the Great Satan and nobody would EVER side with the Nords otherwise.

I doubt there's be a discount. Its too new and too successful. They've already shattered steam records with it.

I had to run this game on everything low or off and it ran smoothly on my garbage laptop while I had vista, but then I upgraded to windows 7 and I have all the latest drivers for everything as far as I can tell like before and now it runs awful, theres a mouse delay to, I'll move my mouse to the right, and then it takes a second for my character to look right.

ideas?

Well yeah if I wanted to spend the money, I just don't see how upgrading from vista to 7 could so radically change the way the game plays/looks/feels

Any tips for mass selling? Most of the time I'm annoyed by how little gold most vendors have. Even if I visit an area concentrated with vendors, they always run out of money before I run out of items.

Fast travel with enough crap to break a vendor's bank... go from city to city, stopping back at home to pick up more crap (or you can use god mode). By the time you've hit 3 different cities, 2 days will have passed and the vendors in the first city will have money again. I sold all of the useless **** in that house, plus a bunch more later on today, and ended up with about 35,000 gold in the end. I usually hit Whiterun, Solitude, and then Windhelm to do my selling. It doesn't work perfectly, though, because I can't seem to find a general goods merchant in Windhelm.

Best tip for mass selling: get the perk in Speechcraft to sell anything to any seller as well as the one that allows you to invest in businesses. The owner of the Riverwood Trader has 10,000+ gold to trade with everyday.

I only worried about gold earlier in the game, now I have 110,000.

I wonder what the DLCs are going to be about

I doubt they will return to Solstheim because that was only two games ago and already an expansion

To be honest I was hoping there would be some sort of unique oblivion gate in some sort of ruin underground so we could see how they reenvisioned the realm of oblivion for this game. Also, I checked out the mythic dawn library and was dissapointed when I broke into the case with the books that they don't level up your skills anymore =/

Tonight after completing the Imperial questline with my new character I found a weird glitch. Now, whenever I'm in Whiterun, Hadvar follows me everywhere with his sword drawn. He's not a companion or anything, and you can't have dialogue with him. He just follows me around doing nothing.

I eventually got bored and walked to the top of a staircase and used the Ice Form shout on him every time he would walk up it. Pretty funny to watch him tumble down the stairs in a block of ice. I did this for about 30 minutes before it got old.

This happened to me too for a while, then he just disappeared. I'm also having a weird glitch on Scoundrel's Folly - apparently I'm supposed to Shadow Gulum-Ei, but he's nowhere to be found in Solitude. I was reading and apparently he gets stuck in a wall somewhere and can't get out, on the PC you can get past it through the console, but on XBox I'm kind of SOL.

I have a glitch on my Main Quest line which has prevented me from getting any futher than the first 3 Shouts. I'll cheat it someday when everything else is done.
