I can't get my threads straight anymore (since it seems to me that the Trump thread is losing to all this other activity on the board, surely to Nikumubeki's simultaneous approval and scorn <--wait, what?), but did anyone else sorta tire of SBC's stuff since Da Ali G Show? That one was brilliant, but the later stuff kinda just made me cringe a lot.

It seems like his new show has something to say. It exposes powerful people in a way that I don't see in anything else right now. There's a moral clarity to it that I don't see in anything else these days either, tbh.

There's this great Christopher Hitchens article about Borat from '06: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/fighting_words/2006/11/kazakh_like_me.html

At first you think, "ah, he just got these Republicans to read stupid **** from a teleprompter", and then it made me think, "holy ****, you can get Republicans to just say anything from a teleprompter".

Yeah. They're completely without principle; they're driven by pragmatic will to power and opportunism. If they'll do this, despite how ridiculous it is, what else would they do? Do they not see how ridiculous a "kinder-guardianer" program is, because they see no difference between it and other ridiculous things that Republicans are asked to support by Fox New-addled voters and eccentric conservative donors?

You would at least think you would read the script before you read it from a teleprompter, wouldn't you? I guess though, that's the job of a politician, to just speak what their donors want.. I wonder if he has anything up his sleeve with Democratic politicians.

Heh, I was wondering if Vox had a stake in publishing a bunch of fiercely negative reviews of the show...

I agree. With Borat and Bruno he developed the art to bring out the ugliest in people. With Who Is America?, he's perfected the art. And I'm not even talking about tricking people into endorsements. In episode 2 there's this great segment where he announces the construction of a giant mosque somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Arizona.

It's genius, and besides the lolz it's definitely relevant to watch.

So you're just going to **** up any thread you want here with this bull****? Oh, that's right, we need more posts.

He's referring to the fact that a thread about a star wars movie (and movies in general, I guess) eventually turned into another one of your "**** on republicans" threads. Most threads end up that way, despite the fact that we already have a megathread dedicated to it. That was what my "488" post referenced: it took 488 posts for someone to start ****ting out politics in a non-political thread.

I understand that there's not really much going on here and the place is on life support, but at least try to keep other threads clear of that ****. If those threads die, then so be it.

You're right, discussing that show didn't really belong here. I felt it was pretty contained though.

Ah, that clarifies something. When I originally read your post, something clicked in my brain that made me think you were making a reference to white supremacism, but now I recall that was actually 1488 (not 488).

FWIW, the original impetus for that sub-thread was an analogy that I made:

...which motivated my suggestion for allowing threads to look more like databases that can span multiple subjects. Well, either that, or we can all (read: me) just keep our mouths shut and not bring up politics when it's not polite to (like at the dinner table).

No man, It has to be an actual dinner table. Geez

What would be bad is if Reviewbrah was innocently trying to make a Jack In The Box video, and Ben Shapiro shows up
