Speaking of high horses..

So yesterday my teacher touches on homosexuality. "A homosexual will never enter the gates of heaven" she says. "But that doesn't mean we should hate them. We shoud accept them as people, preach to them, and maybe they'll turn to the right way."

I almost asked her where it is in the Bible that it says "God hates gays." I also wanted to ask her what makes homosexuality a worse sin than any other sin, according to her way of thinking. And I also have to ask, what's wrong with being homosexual? I find nothing wrong with liking men or women. My teacher did not touch on this subject at ALL. But when they act on their sexual impulses I think is when my teacher should get "angry".

It's an "Absolute Truth and right choices" class (Bible class), and it's already pissing me off 3 weeks into the year. But, like many threads before me, I'd like a gay discussion thread.

And my point is this. Did I choose to like girls? No. So why do they get to choose their orientation?

Christians need to get off their high horses and quit acting "Holier than Thou" to homosexuals, especially if it's a sin. They claim all sins are equal in the eyes of God, so they're no better then the homosexuals.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Leviticus 20:13 and Romans 1:24-28.

Homosexuality is a sin because it is a deviation from God's instructions about how sexuality is to be used.

Thank you. I did not mean it to sound smartass, I wanted to know if she could quote the scripture.

Haha. A book that isn't written by a diety says you can't hump other guys, or a diety won't let you into a club.

God I love religion.

Yay a gay thread. I think the dead horse is still out back from the last one. I'll go drag it out front and we can beat it together.

If that's the way heaven-dwellers feel, then I'm sure homosexuals are happy to avoid heaven. ;) For a homosexual, heaven sounds like hell anyway.

I think in regard to religious classes my school rocked, even though it's a catholic school.
We'd go to the school bistro, have some coffee and discuss ethical questions. Or we'd learn something about religion or watch Life of Brian...

Chewing gum is a perversion of eating. Willfully tasting what was is not a true food and meant for swallowing is pure sin. It is not God's way. A gum chewer will never enter the gates of heaven.

what class was this?

do they ever teach about other religions or do they just push this bible **** on people?

Wheres that picture about adults that have imaginary friends?

Christians get their ideas from a book that was written presumably around the time of the Roman empire. I think we've all heard of the giant orgies back then, where nobody cared where (excuse the language) they shoved it into, as long as it felt good.

Nowadays, such orgies only happen in certain movies- sorry if that ruined anyone's dream. Nobody in the Bible mentions it being wrong to love someone of the same gender, just the sexual intercourse. In effect, we can safely say that if sex between two people of the same gender is only a way to express their love for eachother, it's cool with God. After all, isn't he said to be a 'God of love'?

Some people don't seem to get that though.

That don't actively choose to be homosexuals, it's something that develops during puberty that they have no say in.

That being said, that doesn't make homosexuality any less of a sin. Some people are naturally disturbed and violent, but murder is still wrong. Some people are cleptos, but stealing is still wrong.
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

Wrong comparison. Murderers, in whatever way, shape or form, are hurting other people (no ****, Sherlock). Cleptomaniacs steal, and whoever they steal from suffers the consequence.

What was the last time a homosexual hurt you by being what he/she is?

The Book of Romans is a letter written to the Romans by Paul I believe, not written by Romans.

For the record: Sin = death, no matter what that sin may be.

That's great, if you believe the bible.

But since the bible was written by men trying to interpret the "acts of god," I don't. Who knows, maybe those guys were just pissed because their boyfriends broke up with them.

However, you should know that eating shellfish is a sin just as abominable as gay lovin', so stay the hell away from shrimp, you wacky X-ians.

The bible was written by men who God purposefully inspired. To illustrate this, its like God is the boss of a large company, and his apostles were secretaries. Also, where else would one learn of God if not from the bible?

Passage Leviticus 11:9-12:

9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

---

I'm trying to find/prepare a whole bunch of silly things the bible says, if you give me a while.
