It is subjective, for sure. In my opinion, the only episode this season that didn't stand up to the others was the one with the vindicators. But even that one wasn't so bad.

There isn't a single episode of Rick & Morty that I didn't enjoy on some level, which is more than I can say about most TV.

Actually, the episode that was the biggest let down for me was probably Get Schwifty.

I loved that one! Good music.

One look at the sausage-fest that is the writing credit for tonight's blowing of Morty's mind says that I stand to swallow my words if the thing flops.

But it won't, just see how Roiland and Harmon are in on it too

Just watched tonight's episode; pretty good stuff.

That said, the never-ending cock fight between the two male leads is wearing a bit thin on me. They really ought to get some feminine input to take the show in a fresh direction.

Wow, that sucks.

I can totally see how rabid R&M fans did this kind of thing (being one of them, I guess? Minus the harassment part). I mean, maybe part of the reason the kind of rabidly anti-women guys are attracted to a show that (IMO) offers a very "masculine" perspective on life, is the very reason for the ensuing tragedy we see here when the writers try to correct it. I am saying: no, it's too late to cleanly add a more feminine dimension, you already attracted the Gamergate crowd as your core fanbase. It would be like Trump trying to give a speech on why women should have the right to grab men by the dick and shame straight white males, and not expecting to piss off some very scary angry dudes.

I still think it was worth it to add the female writers to the show, and it's pretty sad to see this harassment play out. I see it all the time in the tech media, where a female founder who is attractive is threatened with death and rape for the smallest of perceived shortcomings.

The Orville is a very good Star Trek.

Discovery is a very bad one.

I don't know what the **** is wrong with Rotten Tomatoes. I think the reviews have been rigged by CBS or something.

Not TV, but I enjoyed Baby Driver. It's very different from most movies.

Orville is entertaining. Discovery I don't care enough to find a way to watch. Trailer looked horrendous. Star Trek, and Star Wars for that matter, haven't been the same since Abrams got involved.

Has anyone else been watching the new Ken Burns documentary series on the Vietnam war? I've only watched episode 1 so far but I'm really impressed.

I hear Burns does for American history docs what Attenborough does for nature documentaries. Is his civil war series worth a shot for a know-nothing foreigner?

Alrighty then! Time for some more classic Reverend Jones misogynistic ranting.

When you say they're all "awesome", you're forgetting the abomination that was the three episode bloc of season three (episodes 2 through 4), in which they decided to bring a bunch of new writers onto the show just because they were women.

FYI the only episode that seemed off to me was Pickle Rick.

This thread, much like the vast majority of threads made this year, does not deliver.

Pickle Rick was pure filler trying to hide behind cartoon violence shock value.

Pickle Rick was one of the best episodes of the whole series!! Until The one about the Citadel of Ricks perhaps surpassed it.

Thank you. I haven't found anyone else who thought that episode was weak. I thought the plot was meh, it was memey, and the therapist scenes were uncomfortable and boring, but didn't contribute to anything in the long run.

E- compared with the Jelly Bean King which was extremely uncomfortable, but you get the payoff of Rick returning to off him at the end as well as seeing Rick genuinely care about Morty.
I had a blog. It sucked.

I wonder if we'll ever see robotic arm Rick again.

Also, I don't know what it is, but the style of drawing King Tommy of Froopyland has got to be an homage to something. It looks like some kind of children's show from the 80s, like the Smurfs or something.
2017-09-30, 1:56 PM #100
The therapist scenes in Pickle Rick were awkward, and the violence was predictable (reminds me of the Purge episode), but I seriously LOL'd while witnessing Rick construct his new body down in the sewer. I thought that part was quite clever. That said, I was completely unaware of the Pickle Rick meme or the teasers that apparently wore the idea down for a lot of people before they even saw the episode.

I'm guessing at least someone else here has watched The Sopranos. Can we agree that it's basically the best show ever made?
2017-10-03, 6:28 AM #103
I'm enjoying Discovery so far, though it doesn't feel that much like Star Trek, and it takes a bit of a shift in tone in the third episode.

Not sure how I feel about the Klingon redesign.
nope.

I may be dumb but I rewatched it over the summer, and I didn't realize that, when Tony was busting out Scatino, he took a bunch of coolers. Later Carmela tries to give one to Vic, the wallpaper guy. I didn't realize at first that it was one of the coolers Tony took. Kind of obvious but I like it, for showing how the Mafia's "gifts" to people are pretty much all stolen or ill-gotten.

Favorite scenes? I was thinking recently about the memorial to Olivia. Janice's insistence making everyone awkward, Christopher's stoner fingerprints rant, so much of that scene is executed perfectly awkward. I love it.

Finally am getting around to watching The Wire. Holy ****, this show is good. The scene where Bodie murders Wallace was some intense stuff, one of the most emotional scenes I've ever watched in television.

Seasons 1 and 2 were my favorite, I felt meh about the rest. Let us know how you like the coming seasons!

Personally I think the tail end of season 2 is where it actually kicks off.
nope.

Didn't realize I was almost two full seasons behind on The Last Ship. Third is on Hulu and the fourth sitting there on PS Vue via TNT. I also have an entire season of Fear the Walking dead on the PS Vue virtual DVR and a full season of The Americans on Amazon. The second season of The Man in the High Castle as well as a few shows we watch weekly (Grey's Anatomy, Lethal Weapon, and Designated Survivor). Recently got caught up on Deadliest Catch as well. Discovery Go app sucks.

So it looks like Kevin Spacey has come out.

Too bad it took a drunken incident, and at first glance it doesn't seem quite right that he should be fired over this. I'm not sure I feel about drunken sex (or assault in this case, it seems), but unless it's a pattern, is this the same thing as a being a predator? A part of me says yes, but frankly this probably applies to everybody who drinks too much. Although many (most?) of us would never see ourselves as acting so uninhibited, even when inebriated. Of course we don't really know what happened, and I am sure the victim's story ought to be believed if in doubt, since I guess by being drunk to the point of lacking clear memory you sort of forgo your right to asserting your side of the story.

On second thought, the fact that the victim was a minor at the time (14!) really shows that this was an unforgiveable crime.
2017-10-30, 2:14 PM #116
Wait a minute, they are just saying he "made a pass" at him. Now that's bull****, who gives a ****.
2017-10-30, 2:59 PM #117
Seems a little odd that this deserves as much outrage as Weinstein, who is a literal rapist.
2017-10-30, 3:12 PM #118
I can't help but think that a part of the scandal is the homosexuality aspect of it. Not to defend Spacey too much here, but if this is true it's part of a darker aspect of our history of equating homosexuality with degeneracy / predation. I don't know if the story would have had as much traction if he had made a drunken pass at a young female actor. That all said I don't know really what "making a pass" here comes down to, and for all we know it could be somewhat bad even if he didn't touch him.
2017-10-30, 3:17 PM #119
He apparently pinned the kid down and had to be fought off. But well, I guess there are rumours of more.
