Episode III - More Images (Possible Spoilers)

Yeah, EU and the prequel trilogy, with except maybe the Clone Wars cartoons. Except the Clone wars cartoons weren't part of the prequel movies so yeah, just EU and prequel trilogy :o

Yeah right man, mitochlorians, those disney naboo fighters, the protagonists Anakin and Padme who are twice as annoying as Jar Jar. Hopefully RotS won't be a let down like the first two movies.

The first two movies weren't a letdown. You were just older when you saw them.

What's your favorite movie out of the OT?

Coruscant came from the EU. From what I understand, Lucas fully approved of the whole "clone emperor" comic series, as well (though I may be mistaken here, comics aren't my specialty). Aayla Secura, the blue twi'lek jedi, originated from the EU. The electrostaves that Grievous' bodyguards use are made out of Phrik metal, which originated in Dark Forces. All of the EU is moderated and approved by Lucasfilm before being released. The EU is far from "null and void". All EU is official canon unless and until it directly contradicts the films, in which case the films obviously win. To the best of my knowledge, no one in the films has said anything against deflecting lightsabers with a staff, therefor it is still official canon. In fact, in Episode 3, Grievous' bodyguards deflect lightsabers with their electrostaves.

As much as you may dislike the EU, it is still official Star Wars canon, wether you want to aknowledge it or not. It's not "null and void" in the least.
Moo.

Then again, all fiction is null and void. George Lucas gives us the template for our imagination, we create our own universe ;)

Hmm, I was around the same age I think when i saw them. What got me into Star Wars mainly was jk2: jedi outcast. But my fav movie is probably A New Hope.

Holy.
Crap.
Wow.
Just wow.
Major spoiler.

Q. Does anyone mention the dreaded midiclorians?

A. Yes. In the opera scene, if memory serves. Palpatine basically brings them up in a way that suggests, fairly subtly, that he manipulated the midiclorians to bring about Anakin's "virgin birth." The Throne Room scene in "Jedi" may be a three-generation family reunion of sorts, though we'll never know for sure.

Just. Wow.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Yeah, but I also believe that he's lying to Anakin.
twitter | flickr | last.fm | facebook |
2005-05-10, 12:46 PM #747
He might be lying, but it is not flat out said Anakin, I am the reason why you are born. As stated in the message, it suggests it, but does not flat out say that is what he said. Kind of like that whole "Darth Vader betrayed and murdered your father." When you heard that, he suggested that the father had died, and not that he died "in a sense" like he later said in RotJ.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

When James Earl Jones (who voice acted Vader) read the infamous "I am your father" line in his script, he initially thought Vader was lying to Luke. :)

2005-05-10, 6:16 PM #749
No, that's not what I mean. Palpatine is lying to Anakin only to bait the hook more to snag Anakin to his side. He does the same thing with the tale of Darth Plagueis.

Also, looks like the critics are liking one of the prequels this time:

Rotten Tomatoes: Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

So far at 93%.

What's said in the book is that Darth Plagueis "could directly influence the midi-chlorians to create life; with such knowledge, to maintain life in someone already living would sem a small matter, don't you agree?"

He then mentions how Plagueis has gained the ultimate power, but is afraid of the Jedi's, so he teaches it to his apprentice and then the apprentice kills him. I don't see how this mentions he brought about Anakin's birth at all, except for the fact it says he could create life.

Qui-gon believed anakin was conceived by the midichlorians, thus lucas is making a very subtle connection here. He drops the fact that there was one being in the galaxy who could create life through the midichlorians in RotS, and what you can draw from that is up to you.

BrianTheSith but the book also leaves out things. For example, they dont mention anything about Kashyyk's battle if I remember correctly.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Well apparrently from those who have scene the movie the following scenes are cut:

Mon Mothma and all "rebellion" meetings.

One of two scenes where Obi-Wan goes to Padme. The scene is where Obi-Wan says he knows about their relationship and such.

Qui-Gon's voiceover.

However, this is from those who have seen the digital version, which is shorter (due to technological constraints) and was cut after the film version. Those who have seen the film say that it does not take away from it though, and that its the best edited SW film since ESB.

It wouldn't make sense at all for them to do that.
2005-05-10, 8:37 PM #756
Wait, I thought the digital version was going to be the longer version of the film. The rumors were that it was going to be 3-5 minutes longer, and this is what McCallum said..

"The digital version of the movie will be different from the version that goes out on film. That has to be locked down so much earlier, whereas the digital can go right up to a week-and-a-half before the film comes out"

Yes it would, Yoda still explains a great deal to Obi-Wan after his conversation with Qui-Gon that was cut. There's still a chance that it might be in the film version.

Nowhere does that say anything about it being longer nor shorter than the film version, just that it'll be different.

They revealed the beginning of what is, for me, the second most anticipated scene in the movie. Ian is AWESOME.
