Jesus I am taking him everywhere this playthrough, him and Tali all the way.
2010-02-20, 6:42 AM #363
Used him as my specialst because he's a machine and can easily hack things :)

I'll start my second playthrough soon, I'm curious as to how it will play out with Legion at Tali's mission.

Also hoping I don't lose my entire crew.

Anyone seen the ending where Shepard dies? I saw it mentioned on another forum so I looked it up on YouTube. Tragic stuff, but I also had to be impressed by how much work was put into the "bad" ending as opposed to having just one or two scenes essentially saying "we're all ****ed now".
2010-02-20, 7:05 AM #365
...how do you import your character to ME3 if he's dead?
Bassoon, n. A brazen instrument into which a fool blows out his brains.
2010-02-20, 7:15 AM #366
You can't. Which is mostly why I was surprised that ending was so fleshed out.
2010-02-20, 12:04 PM #367
Yeah, if your character dies, it's over. No importing to ME3 at all for the sake of continuity. Pretty cool.

I'll have to play through real quick and get everyone dead. Gotta see that.
2010-02-20, 3:23 PM #368
So if Shepard dies, you can't import a character and are forced to start from zero, or is there a new protagonist?

I suppose no one other than those working on the third installment really know the answer, but I am asking anyway, damn it.
2010-02-20, 3:32 PM #369
I think if you die at the end of ME2 it just doesn't create a "completed" save file to import. So you'd have to make a new Shepard in ME3 and put up with the game making default choices for the previous two games like ME2 did for the original.
2010-02-20, 3:41 PM #370
It must be a logistical nightmare for the programmers now.
2010-02-20, 6:01 PM #371
i havent bothered to read the whole thread but did anyone else notice that the guy you talk to when you first get to the citadel (the one who asks if you want to be alive again or keep your status as being dead) is voiced by Col. Tighe from BSG?

So I reloaded and now I'm basically postponing Jack's loyalty mission till after the IFF mission, because I'm trying to get a 100% alive playthrough.

Also, in my experience you have to have like 100% paragon to convince Jack or Miranda to like you again after you **** it up the first go-round.

This. I was about 80% good, and none of them love me anymore :(

That's what I've read as well.

God that's great. I thought that to create a continuity they were just going to make someone else the protagonist in ME3, so that those who died could continue.
Thank god I was wrong.

I've gone all the way back through Horizon and still can't get past the first part of the ending. Even when I'm running, I still get hit by shockwaves.

If Shepard dies, you play as Conrad Verner in ME3.

I think the fact that is the biggest single video game thread in Massassi history is a testament to just how great this game is.

There's a Bioware boards dedicated to Horatio Caine comics about Mass Effect. Some guy made an elcor template, so I made this:

Absolutely. I'm extremely excited for ME3. Like, schoolgirl excited.

You're safe in cover from shockwaves.

And much less safe from husks.

I ended up just taking the scions out from the stairs to avoid triggering the husks' arrival. I'm not proud of it, but I wasn't going to be able to do it the "right" way.

Husks are extremely vulnerable to biotics. Pretty much any biotic power kills them immediately, at least at the higher levels. I use that biotic shockwave attack to take out entire groups of husks in one strike.

Also, was anyone else annoyed with the harbinger's annoying voice?

"Your attacks are useless!"

"I am taking direct control."

It's like a special unit from a C&C game. :carl:

On Hardcore and Insanity, husks have armor so biotics alone are going to get you killed unless its area warp or area reave. Mordin's area incinerate can be a godsend too. But ya, husks are definately troublesome on higher difficulties, not to mention that it only takes two or three shockwave to kill you.

Collector Particle Beam DESTROYS husks and Scions. As does the Eviscerator Shotgun with Tungsten Ammo.

My Paragon is like 85% and I cannot convince Miranda to love me :(
I don't have anymore missions, either, so I can't raise my score any. I guess that's what I get for loading a savegame where I was pure evil, then trying to turn it around.

I recently Purchased Mass Effect 1 and I have a question.

Is the scanning/surveying/mining in Mass Effect 1 benefitial for when I eventually play Mass Effect 2? I understand that scanning and mining is a part of Mass Effect 2, but is there any additional benefit to finding more minerals in Mass Effect 1 first?

I know that the gun system in ME2 involves using these minerals to make weapons/ammo or something like that.

This was my other mistake. I took Heavy Incinerate for Mordin instead.

Thankfully it's been much smoother sailing since I got off Horizon and respec'd. I've learned my lesson: With an adept, if you're not spamming warp you're doing it wrong.

You'll get a rather minimal bonus to the amount of minerals you use. Its so easy to mine them in the second that its not worth the trouble. The minerals in ME2 (Eezo, Iridium, Platinium and Paladium) are used to research upgrades be it ship upgrades, weapon upgrades, new heavy weapons, etc. (Not ammo).

Your bonus is probably around 10000 of each if you happen to find all in ME1. 10000 is a very small amount (most important upgrades cost 15000-25000)

I found that (since I use them most in this game) Zaeed and Grunt against the husks is best. Zaeeds fireburst takes out groups quickly, and both of them having concussion shots is useful to delaying the explosive husks.

Plus, if Grunt charges, they just all splatter. There's no stopping it.

Shockwave is extremely brutal against husks of any kind, as long as you have a fellow character who can AOE burn their armor away (Zaeed, Mordin, Miranda, Samara)

I was going to, but every time I hear them I wimp out of trying to spell her combat drone's name. But this is one of the many reasons why Tali is one of my most favourite characters of the series, if not my absolute favourite.

Edit: Actually, now that I've heard it again (and you've mentioned Aerie), it's not called Chiktikka, is it?

Alright, I looked it up. It's Chiktikka vas Paus. Awesome.

Well I tried DA:O, I just can't quite get my head around the play style, I haven't even left the first area. I'll try again though.
Would you really recommend Baldurs gate 1/2/whatever?
