Yeah, the Normandy loading is stupid. They probably wanted to show off the 3D wireframe elevator graphics. :downswords:

I told him that I was going to save the refinery workers regardless, and I still got his loyalty. If you are paragon enough you can resolve every mission without compromising, I assume the same is true of renegade. Like how I got Tali and Legion to kiss and make up (unfortunately not literally).

WTF???

I wouldn't have minded as much if they weren't so frequent in some parts (like Ilos, I think I took like 5 elevator rides in the space of 10 minutes of gameplay, I was ready to pull my hair out)

There needs to be a "I have tons of RAM, load more at once" option. The Normandy loading was incredibly aggravating and made me half-consider letting my fish die multiple times.
2010-02-10, 10:00 PM #287
The Normandy load times are completely nondeterministic. Sometimes, it takes less than two seconds to load the captain's quarters. One time it took over a minute. ?!?

Not even close.

Awesome. My co-worker told me that the game was short. I was skeptical because he did not pursue all the side quests and loyalty missions and played through on the easiest setting. Either way I can't wait to import my ME1 character and play through a second time.
2010-02-11, 3:40 AM #291
Yea... no offense but your co-worker is a moron. You should consider the loyalty missions as part of the main quest.

This game took me 42 hours and I didn't complete all n7 missions. I was playing on veteran difficulty but died less than 10 times overall.

Figures. It was one of the first quests I did so I guess I didn't have a high enough Paragon score to persuade him. Only saw him in one cutscene during the final sequence anyway and he didn't get shot in it so I assume he lived.

I managed the same resolution with Tali and Legion but not the one with Miranada and Jack. Just had to build up a few points then go and talk to Jack in the hold. Even though I passed the check and she seemed ok during the conversation, she still told me to "**** off" every time I went to see her afterwards. She was a *****, anyway :P

Here's a DP Code for anyone who wants it. Please don't use it if you don't really care for the items.

I recommend the recon helmet. Pretty cool.

Okay, why are the stars on the observation deck so horrible? There's no real horizon effect. The stars look like wallpaper three feet away. :argh:

Also, I miss some of the character development from ME1. It used to take a long time for characters to open up and get you to ask for personal favors. Now, Thane and Samara ask me the first time I speak to them! Miranda, Jacob and even Garrus were better. They must have gotten lazy.

I also miss the RPG-like weapon upgrading. The inventory was terrible in ME1 mostly because it had a limit, forcing you to constantly sell crap, and because the UI was hard to use. Why didn't they just fix those problems?

Also, I was this || close to thinking BioWare had finally leaped over the uncanny valley. The characters, the main characters anyway are rather convincing. I was surprised at how good the tears looked when characters cry. Then I saw a sex scene. :suicide:

I'm now a little way into my Mass Effect run, and I've already come across characters that are in the sequel that I completely forgot about meeting in the first game. Nassana and Morlan, for example. Nassana doesn't even seem like that much of a *****. I'm looking forward to seeing how they'll react to me in ME2 now that my character has met them and they'll know who I am.

Kelly gets abducted shortly after the IFF mission, you must go to the omega four relay immediately after or she dies.

I didn't know that the first time through. In fact, I had absolutely no information on the game at all, aside from it being 3rd person and an RPG of sorts. Whole crew ended up dying because I took about 8 hours between IFF mission and Omage 4 to upgrade. Stupid me.

My first play-through (only play-through, for now), I lost Legion and Grunt. Legion was my specialist as he can hack things pretty well (but I didn't buy him the new Geth sniper D:). Sent Grunt for distraction because he was my least favorite character (although his death was still sad somehow), and because he loves killing things/seemed like a good choice as he's more or less a brute. Didn't buy him the shotgun >.<

That's what you get for not preparing the entire team for the mission >.<

Everyone was loyal except Miranda - reason I was on Jacks side during their argument was well.. who would you rather have pissed off? Someone who is specifically assigned to make sure you succeed? Or the most dangerous criminal in the galaxy? I'd rather the former be less loyal to me than the later, who can possibly sabotage my entire mission (can that even happen?). Didn't let her do anything.

Samara was my shield. In order to avoid exacerbating the problem between Jack and Miranda, I chose her. Still don't know if that could've caused any sort of betrayal or whatever, but I approached the game as realistically as I possible could - getting into the role as authentically as possible. :)

Dear god do I love the sniper rifle. Nearly never miss a shot with the damn thing, so wicked. The little slow-mo at the beginning of a zoom is brilliant. Used it every chance I could. (Infiltrator).

Anyway, so freaking awesome. The reaper totally scared me to death. Looked into it's eyes and nearly whimpered. The funky "ducking" thing it does just freaks the hell out of me. Very cool.. and unexpected.

Also: there's a few game-mutual songs in ME2 (like SimCity and NFS.)

For example, the song that plays in the Afterlife club.

SimCity is in the gunshop on the top floor of the Citadel, say my sources.

Thought that was some fun information to share.

Right, so I better get started on my next few play-throughs (different classes, Paragon and Renegade, etc.)

They actually threw in A LOT of other game tributes in ME2. I was reading about a week ago on a Gamespy forum and they had a fair amount listed. Some WoW, Maxis Games, and others I don't remember. I think there was a Lucas Arts game in there too.

That was one of the tougher parts for me as well, along with the platform trap on the collector ship. The run went overall well. I died alot throughout, some to stupid moves on my part, but it saddens me to say that a large portion of my death were due to game bugs mainly with the vanguard charge ability. It would often either not charge when desperately needed, even when the creature is on flat ground ahead of me, and worse so when it didn't charge and still used up your biotic cooldown.

Let it be known, however, that Samara with Area Reave, along with Mordin with Incinerate Blast (or Miranda with Area Warp), along with my Vanguard's shockwave made any husk portion very easy. Even with scions. You position your squad mates out of the Scion's shockwave's path, and you simply sink your charge with the shockwave. Charge, shotgun, back up, rince repeat.

Good luck with an adept! :D

I'm about halfway through a replay right now, my goal this time is to make Shepard the ultimate womanizer. All four. Dunno if it's possible, but I'm going to try. I should be able to get three I think... At least Miranda/Jack, then Tali, then Kelly. *should*

We'll see.
