--This idea was originally proposed to me by Gebohq. Becuase events in the post board version of Saga of the Thrid War lead me to open this tale.--
Merlin's body now was cold as it lay on the floor. His eyes not seeing, his heart not beating, no breath, no life. Ji'tory looked at his body now. But she didn't see or hear or feel. She was now only and extension of Bazaal. Bazaal brought down his dark sheild and surveyed the party.
Bazaal: Ji'tory. Take the sword and pick it up.
Ji'tory without emotion picked up "Consilium ex Deo".
Bazaal: Throw it out the window.
She did. It fell many stories straight down and dug into a stone that lay in the sea near the tower. It was deeply dug into the stone and would be hard to remove.
Now Bazaal turned to the party.
Bazaal: As you can see you master Merlin is dead. Now either join me. Or I will give you a head lead in fleeing from me.
None of them choose to join.
Bazaal: So be it! I've been aware of you friends elsewhere in the castle. To all of you I say goodbye and good luck with what little life you have worth living left.
Bazaal with a flick of his hand the party was enveloped in shadow. Suddenly they all found themselves out side Merlin citadel. All except Ji'tory. Gebohq turned and went cold as he saw Merlin's dead body laying in the grass. His gray white hair matted slightly with his red blood. His pale blue eyes looked up unseeingly. Though they seemed to look into the heavens with the same patience and kindness he bore in life.

"I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good. So then it is no longer I that do it, but sin that which dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin which dwells within me."
~St. Paul to the church in Rome recorded in Romans 7:15-20.
So that we are set free from sin by Jesus, so we celebrate his birth on Christmas. Remeber this day with joy, when the angels sang, peace on earth good will toward men.
