At Coldplay a couple of nights back in Sydney Chris,Guy,Will and Jonny all came on the encore with Socceroos uniforms and in Dont Panic chris martin change the lyrics somehow i forget exactly he changed them so the last line of a stanza was

'we all know that penalty was bull****'

cheered me up alot, we are all pretty cut from that game with Italy....I don't blame the ref so much i blame the mafia.
The day i tried to live,
I hung out on the powerlines
and let the martyrs stretch.

i dunno, he crushed the mans gonads with his boot and then behaved like a thug.

the refs are cracking down on rooney-esque behaviour this year.

if we dont pull our fingers out we're dead.

although theres been an improvement in this half of the game.

as for the push against ronaldo, he ran into the back of rooney, don't see any cards for that!

I can't believe Rooney got a red!!!!!! :gbk: :gbk: :gbk:

Even though it will be a miracle if England wins now, they seem to be playing better with 10 men than 11. I swear Robinson deserves man of the match!

And does anyway else find it interesting that the ref is an Argentine. Conspiracy anyone? :ninja:

2006-07-01, 10:15 AM #618
Wow, the ref either got paid off or doesn't know how to make a good call.
2006-07-01, 10:31 AM #619
Come on, Beckham! Do, what you're famous for!!!! :P

If he'd given him a card he would've had to give the penalty. But from certain perspectives it really looked like all the player hit was the ball.

No, that should have been a PK.

Once again, the refs can't call a game. It really pisses me off that so many teams advance because the refs take sides (or just don't have what it takes to be a decent ref).
2006-07-01, 10:48 AM #627
10 men, 3 lions, Portugal did not deserve to win that game.

No, it wasn't. The replay showed the defender got the ball first.

Very tough for England. As much as it pains me to say it, Ricardo was a hero today.

Oh well, another 4 years eh, i think whoever won it would have been a fair result.

:D
nope.
2006-07-01, 11:50 AM #633
totally gutted, but we played so well after Rooney went off. Can't believe we held on for so long and managed to cause Portugal some real problems. Not too impressed with the subs, what a waste to bring Lennon on then sub him again later - the point when you've got ten men is to keep the team fresh because they're having to work so hard.

Not the greatest show for the penalties, surprise surprise. Robinson didn't save a single one, all the Portugal non-scorers were misses.

But oh well, there's always next time. When we started the tournament it was quite clear that we weren't gonna go that far with the team we have. They need far more time together - such great players that just don't mesh as a team at all.
