I don't know too much about Terry, but I have been impressed with his performance on the backline. Wasn't he the guy that made that incredible bicycle kck save out of the English goal against Trinidad and Tobago? And Gerrard is also impressive. He was England's MVP in terms of goals in this WC (only 2 mind you), and he is a solid midfielder, good at attack and defense. Damn, that guy had some speed in the Portugal game. Did you see him sprint halfway across the field to catch up with Ronaldo?
I wonder just how different the game would have been if: 1) Michael Owen had still been in the tournament. 2) Wayne Rooney hadn't gotten sent off. 3) Sven had used a more conventional formation, such as 4-4-2, with some more power up front.
I also felt like Crouch kind of redeemed himself in this last game. In the group stages, I hadn't been too impressed with some of his performance, but he must have been a great boost of morale and confidence to a tiring English side in the Portugal game. Lennon, considering he's only had I think 4 internatonal appearances, was stellar against Portugal. Hargreaves was also excellent. It's a shame THeo Walcott, the "Secret weapon" didn't get to play in this, I actually think some of England's young and upcoming stars played better than the established ones .... such as good ol' "rubbish-in-front-of-goal" Lampard.....
