blimey. quite an ending.

Good game overall, could have been a high score. Lehmann was excellent (not that I'm biased) but both the Italian goals were great. It was a shame they came so very late, not allowing any kind of a comeback. I am disappointed though, should have been a Germany France final - Henry vs Lehmann, oh yeah!

France FTW now.

my ideal final would be germany vs france.

all i can hope for now is italy vs france.

I think England blames Ronaldo for their loss. Other than that, Ronaldo is the leading scorer in the World Cup.

Well, France is through to the final. 1-0 from a penalty isn't the most convincing win but (as an England supporter) who am I to talk? :P

Speaking for myself only, I don't blame Ronaldo for being knocked out of the World Cup. That doesn't mean I like the guy, though. I think he's exemplified all of the problems of this tournament that's turned it into such a shambles.

Yeah it was a contentious penalty, but I think France outplayed Portugal for the entire game. Portugal just didnt have anyone looking menacing in the box. They had no problems lining up shots with the likes of Figo and Ronaldo passing the ball through, but had no one to bury the ball in the back of the net.

I think you're mixing up your Ronaldos. Ronaldo of Brazil is the top goal scorer in the World Cup all time. Cristiano Ronaldo plays for Portugal. Different guys.

It was definitely a penalty, though Henry over-dramatised it, which was really not necessary.

France outplayed Portugal, it was a shame the only goal was a penalty, they should have had a couple more. Ronaldo did play exceptionally (and this from an englishwoman!!), which must have been especially hard with the reception he was getting. But the entire world is now against him due to the downright abominable behaviour he presented on saturday. His try for a penalty tonight was also particulary unsportsman-like.

Ah well, a good night, and maeve is, once again, drunk on a school night.

To be honest, I'm for Italy too. But I won't mind the French winning. It'd be kind of cool considering how old the team is, and especially Zidane, who's about to retire.
