I don't have to take that from somebody who likes RoTS.

If you babies are done hooting at each other, somebody's been leaking a bunch of concept art.

I enjoy the hell out of the original trilogy, and to a lesser extent, I also enjoy the prequels, but I'm self-aware enough to understand that the majority of my enjoyment of ANH and RoTJ comes from nostalgia, while being able to admit that I can put aside pretense and enjoy the prequels for what they are: Three movies with imaginative character designs and fun action scenes that fit right in to a larger series of light-hearted child-oriented science fiction that inexplicably has one really dark chapter that also happens to be one of the best movies ever made.

I'm not saying the OT was in pinnacle of cinematic excellence, but it was extremely popular and well received, because it really nailed what it did well, and the stuff that wasn't as good wasn't so glaring that it put people off. The NT didn't need to have great writing and acting, it just needed to not be so bad that it was uncomfortable to watch. The art an the set pieces was admittedly excellent on the NT as well, for the most part, but I don't think they achieved as cohesive an aesthetic as the OT, and that is really the backbone of Star Wars.

Additionally, suggesting that Iron Man is aimed at kids is arguable. I'm not sure how likely Disney is to greenlight a "kids movie" that features a whiskey-swilling womanizer as a protagonist.

Did you not notice the number of Iron Man toys that were/are being made?

Toys were also made for Batman Returns until parents started noticing it wasn't that kid-friendly after all. Sure, both franchises overall aren't really aimed for adults, but certain realizations of the franchise (i.e. aforementioned Batman Returns and Iron Man) do stand more on the "teen"/"adult" side than "4kids".

Action figures: The hallmark of every movie aimed at kids.

Action figures I can see as being aimed more at a teen/adult market. I'm talking about the stuff that's obviously aimed at kids under ten. Foam masks, kiddie shoes, crappy plastic stuff, ect. Go look at the toy section next time you are at target. There is a massive amount of marvel stuff that no one over the age of 12 would ever play with.

Grown adults who play with action figures are the specific people who get pissed off when George Lucas says Star Wars is for kids.

Yeah, a lot of ships and stuff that were already outdated in-universe by the time of ANH (e.g. Z-95 Headhunter) have come up for this film. Eenterestingue.

Well, in TIE Fighter (the game)--which (IIRC) takes place after the rebels blow up the Death Star in X-Wing--you often flew missions against non-rebellion forces (like mercenaries, miners, and other neutral parties), who could only afford the cheaper Z-95s.

I like that Han is the commander of the republic fleet and helms a Star Destroyer. I think it's cool that the new republic has more and more come to resemble the empire, and that's nice (if fairly heavy-handed) way of demonstrating it.

I also like that Luke is the villain, though it's not certain if he's considered the villain because he's against what the new republic has become in its similarity to the galactic empire, or if it's because he has unwittingly fallen to the dark side. It's likely a combination of both, I figure, though it would be pretty sweet if when he turns out to be the mastermind of the conflict of Episode 7 toward the end, it's revealed that we've been rooting for the bad guys throughout the whole movie. You know, point of view and all.

I wouldn't mind a simple plot, just good vs. evil with interesting characters.

So basically, like the throne room scenes from RotJ.

No. I want something more confusing and obscure than The Matrix: Reloaded. I want shapeshifters, force-manipulating organisms, cyborg imposters, and Q.

(And a GL cameo*.)

*but, put him in an alien costume so that you can't see his face, and nobody knows it's him. At the same time, though, sculpt the alien's face and neck to undeniably resemble him.

So movies should be simple because you're a simpleton. Right.

The throne room scene is so simple and straightforward, too. A scene of intense emotional turmoil and manipulation of a father/son pair, turned against each other, the father finally redeeming himself after seeing his son do what he never could. Yes, this is straightforward good vs evil, but only if you're, that's right, a goddamn simpleton.

And come on, FGR, you can't call a series that has the most famous plot twist in the history of cinema "simple and straightforward" either.

To be fair, it's an intensely emotional scene, but I wouldn't describe the interaction as complex really.

I'm okay with the force waking up, so to speak. However, making "awaken" the verb makes it sound like it happened way to fast. Obviously, a better title would avoid this by saying "awakening" instead, thus avoiding saying just when the force woke up, or how long it took.

Guys, I don't think it's like, "The Force" the force, I think it's just the force. Perhaps a police force. This may be the buddy cop star wars movie we always wanted. About a pair of narcoleptic narcotics officers.
