When too much stuff happens, I get confused. Besides:

a) Jellybean pony is magical, and can teleport around with magic.

b) Jellybean pony is much funnier when it doesn't talk.

c) Too many idle characters slow things down - instead of just happily working away on the story, people focus on just getting the characters together in one spot.

I'm sorry if I inadvertanly scrapped your plans (it's happened to me a few times), but this is an interactive story, so if you're not writing then someone else probably is. I mean, the pony appearing back at the HHH isn't a plothole (it's not improbable) and neither is Otter, Krig and J-Bob being back at the base (unless they've been explicitly used in previous posts placing them elsewhere).

However, my main thing is that after a while I get tired of writing and reading posts where characters are preparing to do stuff and want to see some actual advancement in the plot. I did research that post (read everything on the current page), but plotholes get more and more likely as we have a larger cast (nothing about the pony on the current page, for example, so I figured it had drifted into limbo and was free game).

Anyways, the bottom line is that if you don't like the direction things are going you can bow out for a while (as I've done in the past) or you can intelligently fix them (as I've also done in the past).

I've been sort of caught up in work lately, so i haven't been ablke to develop Qwerty's new evil character too much yet, so sorry about that, but i don't think that's an excuse for trying to kill him off! I mean, i understand this is is an Interactive story, i don't mind if anyone does something with him i don't expect, itsthe name of the game 'round here, but that was just plain mean. You're just lucky he's a mad scientist who can come up with these sorts of excuses for randomly dying.

...oi. Look, I wasn't trying to kill 'your' character; that's not what this story is about. I was trying to advance things and move a character who wasn't doing too much over to the sidelines (I don't think any characters have ever perminantly died in the NeS).

[even the extra heroes who were brutally murdered by Krig could conceiveably return with a good enough reason. All I'm trying to say here is that NeS has always (since I've been writing for it, at least) had the minor issue of too many leftover characters that aren't doing anything. This gets really cumbersome after a while, so we (the writers) have always come up with little devices to get rid of extraneous stuff - the perpetual party at big ben, evil Krig killing everybody, etc. I wasn't trying to hijack your character or anything, I only wanted to get things clipping along.

I'm hoping for at least a page I've been re-reading NeS before doing so, and I am moving along as quick as I can. Again, apologies for holding up the line, you all have done very well thusfar

Notes for sketch:

A. Since I completely suck at body drawing, there is no body. I'll try to come up with something "acceptable" soon.
B. You anime nerds should know what her design is based off of, just like all my character designs. No, believe it or not, it's not .hack
C. This is not how she looks ATM. She currently only has her hair in a pony tail in the back, and she doesn't have glasses. She will, and I'll get to that in a bit. And yes, her eyes are blue. I just like blue eyes.

Soon to come Mimiru character development:

Mimiru hasn't really been developed as a character yet, I've spent most of my time focusing on CM, and making him a decent character. Now I am going to focus more on her. (SPOILERS FOR SOON TO COME NES POST): The reason she will be getting glasses is because she will be learning more fire skills, just like CoolMatty. During her training, she finally discovers the secret to using fire skills (More on how she can in a far off NeS post that I won't get to now, but its related to her and CM only, Subaru won't ever have magic, and Wai won't either.). However, when she discovers how to use fire skills, a fire spell goes off right in her face, damaging her eyes. At first it seems like only temporary injuries, but she finds that she can no longer aim her fire spells with any sort of accuracy. The ability, which focuses on the eye, blurs her vision when she uses it, keeping her from ever hitting her target accurately. Using her immense wealth, she has a pair of stylish (ha ha) glasses made for her use in battle. So no, she won't be wearing them day-to-day, but she'll always have them on her. As for the new hair style, that'll come when she burns most of her hair off during the aformentioned misfire. Hope all that isn't too confusing

My design (and thusly the magic dealie) is an almost ripoff of Witch Hunter Robin, which is from my current phase of anime. (I have phases I grow through. Cowboy Bebop was a phase, Evangelion had a short phase, Naruto had a VERY LONG phase, and of course, .hack is like a syndrome that won't ever go away.)

Just to remind you all, I really DON'T have plans beyond what I ponder here on the workshop thread. Which means while I think it'd be cool and natural and stuff for the next storyarc to take place in the dreamscape of NeS, if you all feel compelled to go elsewhere, by all means do so. More importantly, I have no plan whatsoever in how we transition to the next story arc. I've sort of/kind of hinted at a way, but it's super-vague in traditional NeS fashion, and only written as a means of inspiring stuff for the posts to follow. Certainly rebound ideas here anyway -- it's amazing how much better NeS flows with minimal NSPs, heh.

At some point, like I said earlier in this workshop thread, I'm hoping to make a storyarc similar in design to the TACC subarc, venturing elsewhere for new writers and stuff. I think I may have thought of a solution for one of my main hurdles as well.

Such odd phenomenon. I take a butt-load of time and nobody speaks up. TLTE takes a couple days and we got a line of people waiting to go. Well, Krig, CM, SAJN and Noble at least. What odd timing.

TLTE is right though -- we're all too nice in waiting for each other to post (better than being big jerks I suppose, but still). I would imagine TLTE has been around NeS long enough to learn to go with the flow anyways. We got this thread to work with such things at least You still got the rest of the day though TLTE before NeS falls off the 2 day list, or until most of us are awake to post...

WEll, its just because the way he posted seems like he's going to edit his last post, in other words make it right after mine, no ifs, ands, or buts. And so, the rest of us need to see it in order to work. If that's not the case, then i guess it doesn't matter if CM goes first. I'm not really waiting for TLTE in order to make a post. Both him and CM are writing stuff concerning Qwerty (well, possibly in CMs case, unless its jsut character development between CM and Mimiru), so i'm going to wait to see both before writing again.

Maybe her mansion is uh... special? Exists in both normal and 8th? It'd keep the Thingy^2 from getting all bottle-necked with people going back and forth anyway /shrug. Still, I would hope such places are not common if that's the case, as one of the major reasons the heroes didn't jump ship back into their own dimension was suppose to be that they were temporarily trapped in the 8th dimension.

And while you didn't ask, I figure the 8th dimension is populated by random people. Qwerty, for example.

The way I saw the 8th dimension was as if it was just an alternate dimension, as in, only slightly different than the one NeS was already in.

Either way, I think it'd be easier to just accept the fact that the dimensions are similar, rather than fix it

Just as a reminder of what my vague plans were...



My suggestion from earlier is that the major conflict for the characters be battling the NeS' greatest fear/nightmare -- the return of the EeP, but really, whatever works is always better for me I also threw out Ford's suggestion of the writer's going on strike, if any of you want to play with that.

I think we should put a limit on how long we can ask other people to hold off on writing, like say two or three days. If it gets left too long, NeS starts to die. And nobody wants that, now do they?

And also, regarding the nature of the 8th dimension, I was regarding it as a totally different place from regular NeS, with no correlation. Maybe we can comprimise and say that Mimiru's mansion has some special ultra-dimensional capabilities? Or maybe it's built on some ancient magic place that transcends to the 8th dimension.
