I agree. The magic number three would be best methinks.

The 8th dimension, as I figured it, was different enough as a helpful story device [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] It serves well as a means of isolating the new default base-thingy for the heroes and a strange new world to play around, seperate from the 'normal' NeS dimension/world (similar to a seperate plane of existance like TACC), but also as something more parallel and connected, sort of like a shadow world [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] Thus, it wouldn't be abnormal for certain locations to have special properties...

In other words, adapt and move on [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

EDIT: Updated the update section again. Hopefully it's accurate.

I think it's fairly counter-productive to put characters on hold at all - the point of the interactive story is take what someone else writes and run with it (I think you'll also agree that the most fun parts of NeS happened when people were firing ideas and situations back and fourth), not to painstakingly craft the epic story of your pet characters.

I mean, sure, sometimes you may have a really cool idea in mind, but you need to trust the other writers to have ideas which are just as good.

But I haven't posted in a while. I don't know why I'm here.

Sorry, its just that CM and i were working quite awhile in #NeS and i just wanted to make sure what we had thought up got down. Trust me, i wouldn't have put us on hold at all, i jsut took too long to write that post and had to put it down last night instead of finishing it. And i don't really think i held up anyone except TLTE. i said all the other characters were free to do as they wished, unless someone else was going to want to write for us. and if so, go ahead now. i've finished what i wanted to.

You're here cuz we wub you [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] That, and you're one of the few who actually write for other people's characters instead of your own... speaking of, will Tracer make a return, character-wise?

Note: I am not in that minority -- I write for just my own character too often. Something I hope to work on.

Uh... TLTE, i said in ym last post that i didn't want to make them my slaves. QWerty found robots to be a heck of alot better. Anyway, that was shattered Geb's plan, wasn't it?

Oh, and i forgot to mention, CM is going to be away for about 5 days on vacation, so you're going to have to wait awhile on that fight of yours. Sorry.

(NSP: I'LL NSP WHERE I DAMN WANT, NEWBIE!

And that's OK about the cutting me out thing. Recently, I was inspired by Tracer, how he always writes for the other characters. It helps to build the mythology of the characters themselves, and not just how we as their creators envisaged them. For example, TLTE would never have received the brilliant clone idea if Janitor Bob hadn't written it in, without consulting me at all. I firmly believe that we should all try, just as an exercise, to write for each other's characters, if only for a little while. Consult the character sheets, learn a bit more about the other heroes...I can't believe we haven't thought of this already!)

Some thoughts from Highemperor, and my initial responses. Feel free to chime in.

Some things to address in NeS.

1. what role the past with Desmond has to play with the present - any ideas?

--All I know for sure is that it should involve Mustang, who is a living character that connects the flashbacks with the present. I'd also like to take this opportunity to lay down the deal with Geb's name, his real last name, and perhaps in the process, set down a precident for some other characters to follow.

2. the role of Morthrandur and the Potentials
--they may or may not make a more than covert/background appearance in the crossover storyarc I had in mind in the near future (i.e. aiming for after the dream storyarc). Either way, I'd be a huge fan of these guys playing something akin to 'behind the scenes of NeS' throughout the thread in general, perhaps to develop something more unknowingly by us (the first 50 pages brought a lot of neat stuff unplanned, which I think is the bestest)[/i]

3. why did King Emp take Erro Ohq's body?
--you seemed to have implied in the posts that Erro was turning into Morthrandur (can I call him Morth pretty please? so much easier to type...). Other than that, hell if I know.

4. the 5-year anniversary of NeS
--My only current input on the matter is that if it be a thread post of any sort, it should be only a single, non-massively-sized post. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions.

5. Kiron Nightstrider's role in the story
--To be meany-pants honest, I'd say forget about it. The only roles I see Kiron being are that 1) serving as a transitional device into the dreamstate storyarc, which we've already done (a relatively good transition if I say so) and 2) for him to be a "new" character for you to use instead of Highemperor, as I was under the impression you did not wish to use him anymore, hence NeShattered, etc. etc. Since you're still using Highemperor as a character (which I have no issue with -- as far as I'm concerned you're in the same boat 'character death/living wise' as TLTE), I think Kiron's role would only unnecessarily complicate NeS.

I also have an idea for a subplot in the story, which will stretch across several story arcs, hopefully, which is related to but separate from the main NeS story. In this story arc (tentatively titled Odyssey), we would follow a man who doesn't remember who he is but whose existence is integrally related to the NeS in some form or fashion. I have some ideas on this, but I'd prefer to keep them to myself and see how they evolve with other people's ideas. Anywhos, this Odyssey would NOT be a separate thread, as Geb seems to hate separate NeS threads. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]
--Yes, I do like to avoid seperate NeS threads when I can. As for your sub-arc, well, there's nothing much I can say about it for the moment. I'd prefer it myself if we stuck with the characters we have, as despite much weeding of inactive characters and the like, we're still left with a rather high number of characters. Who knows though. Maybe it can go places.

Also, I was thinking about Qwerty and the role he's going to play as a villain. What is his motivation? I think that's an important question that needs to be answered. Any ideas?
--I'm pretty sure his motivation for turning villianous is something along the lines of "newcomer punks enter my place and start messing with it. Their incompetance is ruining things, and I must do something to get rid of them." and along the way develop more personal grudges and the like. There could very well be more to it though.

As always, thanks for listening.
--Yub yub. Just to let you know, I'm posting this stuff on the workshop thread, and I (or perhaps someone else, eh eh?) will e-mail you back if and when it gets responses. If there is stuff you really don't want me to post on the workshop in the future, let me know, but otherwise I'll just assume it's good for workshop discussion. You know I'm not a fan of being privvy to NeS material and not the other writers.

That's exactly why he's mad at them, for the moment. that will probably chenge, though, with the entrance of TLTE, especially since i guess he's a protector now, i'm not sure. I'm trying to think up new motivations now, actually.

First off, I wish to let you all know that from Thursday (August 12th) until probably around Monday (August 22nd), I will be visiting my mother and step-father in England, which also means I will not have internet access. So you all have to keep the thread active and stuff while I'm away then, though I'll do what I can to make at least another story post before then.

Secondly, as webmaster, CoolMatty will be working most likely with MZZT (el genius programming techie) and Krig (el genius artist of NeSi) in constructing the NeSi site he now hosts into something more than a main news page and the comic itself. One of the subsections I hope will be up will be the bios page, which mostly includes character info, but I'm hoping will cover us real-life counterparts too. We could just have myself, CoolMatty, and Krig (probably covering his face with a paper bag [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]), but I thought it'd be cool if we could have a teeny bit on the other writers of NeS too [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Of course, I wouldn't want anyone's picture/bio posted if they didn't want to, and I think this would be the best place to voice such. Currently, CoolMatty should have available the following pictures:

  • (1)Gebohq
  • (2)Jim7
  • (+)Krig_the_Viking
  • (3)Brian (aka Lord of Massassi [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif])
  • (1)Highemperor
  • (1)Matthew Pate
  • (1)Ping_Me
  • (1)SAJN_Master
  • (2)Thrawn42689
  • (1)- Tony -
  • (1)The Last True Evil
  • (1)Zuljin

(NOTE: + Don't yell at me please, great Viking. I forgot to slip it out of my NeSi 'bios' folder when I sent it to CoolMatty. He's the only one I sent it to, and I would hope he doesn't post it, as even if you would be up to this, I'm sure you could find a better picture. I hope CM deleted it long ago...*hides from axe*)

I also have 4 pictures of JediKirby. CoolMatty may have them, and others I do not have as well. Most of these pictures were saved from the many "post your picture" threads, but talk to either CM or I about what pictures we do have, if and what you would want to be a part of this, etc. etc.

EDIT: In case it is not clear, I am asking permission/submitions for REAL LIFE bio photos and short blurbs about yourself, not your CHARACTER. The NeS character bios will be added as they are introduced in the comic, and if you wish to contribute your CHARACTER bio (much appreciated as well), post those here. This is also open to those writing in NeSquared as well -- it's open to ANYONE who has contributed to NeS in ANY way. Otherwise, this wouldn't apply to anyone right now [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] If you decline, your entry will most likely simply say "Wrote/writes for NeS from page ___ to page _____/current."

A note about some "foolish plans" I have in mind. Plans are bad, I tell you. Do as I say, not as I do...

I set up the circus-deal in my latest post because in a former post that talked about Jim7's family relation with KyleKatarn7, it mentioned the mother and father being a mime and a clown and stuff. I thought it'd be a good way to explore the potential history of Jim becoming Satan, as it's been explained before that Hell and its ruler share very little with the Hell metaphysics mostly agreed by religious groups... or at least making Jim's last name Seven instead of Jim7. I think it sounds cool anyway. It's my evil plan to encourage characters having real first and/or last names. For instance, The Otter's real name might be like uh... Henry Milroy (well, not that name, but anyways), and "The Otter" would be more akin to a nickname, or a middle name, similar but not quite like the 'code names' for the characters in X-men. And like in X-men, some might go by their actual names, like Jean Grey. I intend to do a bit of diving into Geb's name anyway...

We're having a giant "Warehouse Sale" at work this week, where nearly half of the things in the store are on sale. As you might expect, it's rather busy. So much so that I'm suprised I can function at all once I get home. So anything requiring coherant thought (such as that is with NeS) is pretty much out for me this week. Ugh.

Plus, I'm coming down with a bloody cold. Argh. What a week for it. I need sleep.

School, illness, depression, moving house...I apologise, but until I wade through these, another post is about as likely as finding a platinum nugget under my pillow when I go to bed tonight.

Oh, and Cool Matty, that apology is directed particularly at you; I know your story arc is more or less linked directly to mine at the moment, and I'm not exactly rocking the post count of late. Ah well, it'll happen e...v...e...n...t...u...a...l...l...y......

JK: You, like most everyone else, are in the dreamstate. And what you've been doing thusfar, according to Zania's last post:

Quote:
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Another realm of the dreamstate. One of darkness and mists. The only light emanating from JediKirby the White. He sensed another approach, and turned to face the neon-hooded one.

JKtW: Who are you?

Zania: I see a world has not coalesced around you yet. Curious.

JKtW: I choose not to interfere with this dreamstate just yet. But you didn't answer my question. Who are you?

Zania: I go by Zania, for now. I come seeking your assistance.

JKtW: Are you Hero or Villain?

Zania: Hero... Villain... such definite lines that are blurred more all the time. I could say I'm the devil's advocate, but I do not pledge allegiance to Jim7, nor Helebon. However, I do not follow the path of Gebohq either. Suffice to say that I am here in service of The Story.

JKtW: Very well, though what assistance I can give you may be limited.

Zania (procuring a small jar): I merely require a bit of your breath, then I shall be on my way.

JKtW: I see...

JKtW inhaled the small jar, followed by its lid. He then exhaled the jar, with the lid affixed on top, lauching it towards Zania. Catching the jar, Zania faded out from existence in that realm of the dreamstate.</font>

Remember folks: the dreamstate DOES give you a legitimate excuse to not need to know what the hell is going on, that was the idea...

ok... I'd like to meet this person that's steeling my breath. Very interesting.

I am, since posting, reading the entire NeS. I have a fun little plan that I'll share with you via #NeS once I'm finished reading, Geb.

Good luck. It took me quite a few days of nothing but reading and the occasional feed/sleep to recently re-read the whole of NeS. And actually, that's not entirely true: my last re-reading didn't include NeSquared or NeShattered.

As for the rest of you busy, lazy, depressed, etc. writers -- I hope happier days will come soon, and that you'll be able to return to writing. Whatever the case, keep me informed on your status on occassion [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Then I apologise, Noble...last I checked, your plot was more concerned with Mimiru than me, but if I've inconvenienced you accidentally, I'm very sorry.
