Today my friend asked his girlfriend to marry him. He had his sister buy a bunch of rose petals to toss around, and he asked me if I'd play guitar while he proposed. It was pretty romantic, but he wanted it to be more memorable and goofy (as he is a big goof-ball), so I dressed up rather odd for the occasion. They loved it. Also, cyber congrats to them!

I left from work and picked the first two articles of clothing I could find (Literally. I reached into the closet and took a hat and a jacket and left. I was tight on time). The cowboy hat, which I didn't know I owned a cowboy hat, and the nice black jacket. I'm still in my khaki shorts, so it's kind of weird, but yea, it looks manageable, I've no idea why.

My parents' dog the camhoe. He's six years old. You can't really tell due to the way he's trimmed, but he's a poodle. He has to wear an iron collar because he bites off all the normal ones.

You know, I hate it when civilians wear military clothing for fashion. Especially this new trend with wearing dog tags. Dog tags are a means of identifying the dead, not something you wear to make you look cool.

But it kills me when I see these punk-*** kids wearing ACU pants or an ACU top as a jacked.

But what pissed me off the most was last time I was on leave, I saw this kid, couldn't have been more than 15, wearing a pair of jump wings on a jacket that looked like something you'd wear to a rave.

I had my ACU's on with subdued jump wings. I walk up to the kid and ask him if he knows what those wings are for and if he's wearing them for some special reason (I thought maybe it was for a fallen family member or something) He basically said because they look cool and he didn't give a **** what they meant.

If I hadn't been in uniform I would have ****ed that kid up. I hate that ****.

Point being: Don't wear it if you haven't earned it. You Do Not look cool.

How about you get over yourself and let people wear what they want?

That sounds like a much better plan to me.

New trend of wearing dog tags?

Also, for the past couple of years, people haven't been content with wearing American military jackets, they need to get Bundeswehr jackets. I don't know why they're popular, and it has nothing to do with Germany, since most wearers don't realize there's a German flag on their shoulder.

I guess it's just new to me. I never really have paid attention to the bling crap. Atleast, Until I got to F.t. Bragg and one of my room mates came walking in with a diamond covered set of gold dog tags.
He said he spent almost $1500 on them.

To me, that's just stupid and disrespectful. Unless the dog tags you're wearing belong to someone close to you who serves or died in the Military.

I think dog tags outside the shirt look sloppy. I don't care if people wear them, I just think wearing your ID tags outside your shirt makes you look sloppy. All I know is the ladies love those things hitting them in the back of the head. At least, the girls I know, I'm sure it's not a universal thing. Right?

Anyway, you're wrong, they do look cool, to most people. The only people they are offending, and look stupid to are some servicemembers. I used to be offended by rockstars and the like wearing dress blue tunics, or as you said, jump wings on jackets, but I don't care anymore. They're just cloth, and pieces of metal we attach value to. They represent what is inside of a person and that they belong to an organization and do so with pride. If a person does not have those things in them, or doesn't belong, it turns into just fabric or metal or plastic or whatever it is.

I didn't earn that little metal emblem my Drill Instructor put in my hand, I didn't earn my camoflauge treesuit, I didn't earn my dress blues or the Eagle Globe and Anchor on my cover. I earned the title Marine and there is nothing that can take that away from me.

Thats just me, but the idea that you can declare what looks cool because it offends you in some way is really dumb. It might not look cool to you, but in the real world (the military may be the real ****ing world but it's not the "real world", know what I mean?) it's just another fashion that can look as good as any other.

I do believe it is a felony or at least a very serious offense to wear a Medal of Honor that you have not had bestowed on you. I do have somewhat different feelings on purple hearts, navy crosses, combat infantryman badges and the like, but even so, it doesn't make me mad when people wear them.

Nice flecktarn jacket, Ringmaster.

No what pisses me off, and maybe this is just me, is that it's socially acceptable for civilians to wear stuff like that when they didn't do anything to get it. I mean, How many civilians do you know that actually understand what it means to be awarded the CAB, CIB or CMB? Sure they might read the requirements, but you don't fully understand the gravity of being shot at until it's happened to you.

You can't understand the gravity of Jump Wings unless you're Airborne. Especially if you read the history of what Airborne units have done. Or even ground units.

It's the same as flashing around a police badge if you're not a policeman.

Yeah... it's like an Eskimo getting pissed at some girl wearing a fashionable Eskimo jacket and flaming them on the internet. You can't really get mad at someone for wearing something that may be part of your culture or life. Some cultures contribute to fashion.

I mean unless if they dress up like someone in the army and pretend to be a member, I see no reason why to get all pissy over it.

It's something fashionable people like to wear and you can see it as their money wasted instead of getting really angry.

I can't even imagine how angry you get during Halloween when little 10 year olds dress up as military people for their costumes.

And yeah, cool jacket Ringmaster

Look, its not like they go to an Army base and actually STEAL the clothing. They shop at shops. And being Airborne doesn't mean you get to go around forums saying how mad you are. Do you see Wookie doing stuff like that? No.

Carrying around fake police badges give the wrong impression and is not part of normal fashion. Plus, you might get in trouble with cops if you do so. But its not the same as wearing some jacket that looks like a military jacket.
