I'll get some recent pictures of me soon enough. but in the meantime. my babies!

I modded my LTD with a Gibson P-94 pickup and a Dimarzio Tone Zone humbucker. and the tone zone is wired with a switch that allows me to change between series wiring, split wiring or parallel.

Then there's my customized exit-22. i cut some new cutaways into it. and added an dimarzio air norton single humbucker pickup in the neck. same type of switching both both the neck and bridge humbucker. the rest is stock godin pickups and hardware.

AND then, a happy experiment. dubbed "frankie".. originally had a humbucker in the bridge, i had a leftover single coil from my modded guitar, so, i stuck it in. and it's staying.

How different does split wiring sound? I more or less can tell the difference between series and paralell, but I have never really heard of split. I'm thinking about (after I recover from buying my Laney, and maybe I think I should buy an EQ/preamp) wiring up my guitar to do phase switching and series paralell. I think series/paralell switching is more useful, but phase switching is kind of cool.

Split is making one of your coils short out, effitively making a nice twangy single coil tone.

The air norton rail sounds kinda crappy in series mode, too dark, not enough sparkle. in parallel and split however, it rawks.

Oh, haha, I know what that is. AKA coil tapping. For some reason I thought it was an alternative method to wiring the two pickups, but then I realized series and paralell are the only two real options.

I think I'll probably spend my money on a nice EQ, as I think that shapes tone better anyway.

I beg to differ. pickup configs shape the tone at the source, as in, right where it's processed by the magnetic field. it's a color and response an EQ just can't save. ever heard of an EQ that makes a humbucker quack like a single? everything is different. EQ just cuts frequencies here and there. the shape and color and tone of the different configurations is definitely something an EQ can't reach.

oh, and split series parallel wiring can be done all on one three way switch. pretty viable option as well. ;)
