I've never had a RRoD on mind and I got it in december 2006. Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself.

Arrived yesterday morning at 9am. Went back to bed for a couple of hours, then spent 10 hours playing through co-op Halo 3 with my flatmate and general pissing about on some of the other games. So far, so good!

JLee.. you snuck in before my post.

I've worked in construction for several years. Rigid>all. The uncles I worked with had all dewalts. Dewalt is pretty much equal ... but I like the Rigid style better. I'd steal other guys rigids whenever possible. They had other drills and would always be like "WTF where is my Rigid" and I'd be all :ninja:

Yah? I was actually thinking about swapping it out for a Dewalt, after talking to a buddy of mine. Maybe I'll keep the Ridgid, then. :)

Yea, like I said ... basically no difference between the two. Pretty much personal style. I think the batteries were better on rigid. And the feel.

Try em both out.
I used a dewalt WAY more and I can say .. they take A LOT of abuse. I can't say the same for the rigid because they were someone else's and I was careful lol.

This isn't a cordless - I have an 18v Craftsman cordless..it just doesn't feel as solid as the Dewalt cordlesses I've used. It's years old now (5? I dunno), and the batteries are definitely on their last legs.

Ridgid is supposed to have a lifetime warranty, though I haven't read much good about it online. I might keep it and give Ridgid a shot. :)

Next power tool? SAWZALL!

Yea... Dewalt is solid. Especially their XL or whatever the drywall version that has that plastic slot to fit on your belt. I've found them to be really underpowered though.
The Rigid has more power, longer, in my experience. But as I've said, I can't attest to their durability since I treated them really nice as co-workers tools.
I've dropped Dewalts off staging before. The plastic cracked, but they still worked great.

The Rigid still had way more power IMO as long as you don't abuse your tools like me.

So for corded, I'd go with dewalt.

I've used a right angle drill milkwakee or whatever that was totally bad *** though. Nomally they suck, but I pumped out a nights worth of wiring through studs with this baby in no time.

You would not think it, but EBAY. GREAT deals on used tools. Get the contractor tools used for the price of home tools new, but they still are better. The guy I stole his rigids from bought a bunch of crap off ebay.

I swapped it out for a Dewalt. I also picked up an awesome torch with some MAP gas. Good stuff. Turns out that my car isn't rusty underneath, so no torch was needed..did use it for some plumbing repair, which didn't work out too well. I'll try again tomorrow. :P

I just dropped ~$1200+ on suspension stuff, all stemming from a broken swaybar endlink tab on a strut housing. Don't feel bad- think of when it's done!

Are you doing anything special to the new engine before you drop it in?

They add $100 going from a T to full sleeve? Jeez.....
2009-03-30, 3:22 PM #553
the polos they have are excellent. for $75, i'd say they're worth it and i'll probably pick a black one out next week if i have time.

i think most of the extra $100 comes from the fitting and fabric.
2009-03-30, 3:28 PM #554
Yea, the polos are nice. I have a bunch of friends who dropped 75 for them. I would personally never do it myself, but I've borrowed them before for dates. I seriously do not see the point in dropping 75 for a few inches of a design. I would easily drop a couple hundred for a pair of nice sunglasses, though, if I didn't loose them all the time. I would love a pair of nice ray-bans but I'd totally loose them/break them in a week.
