Seriously considering getting the 88 key instead. F#3 doesn't respond the way the other keys do so I have to take it back anyway.

What a coincidence. I just bought an M-Audio Axiom 25 this week. I really like it so far.

Nice, I got the Axiom 25 recently as well, but in the fancy red edition that every pro-audio company seems to be putting out this year. Last night I just won an MS2000BR on eBay :awesome:

to go in a cheapo Lenovo S10 netbook I also bought. Almost doubled the price of the netbook, but I wanted an SSD-based one with a respectable amount of space.

You should clear all the crap out of the bottom of that and put charcoal in it. Or is that just a gas-lit charcoal grille?

Figured that using remote desktop between my main computer and the one right next to it was stupid and slow, broke down and bought a KVM. I wish I had purchased one years ago.

That, except with DVI, is pretty much what I've been looking for for weeks.
What exactly is the model/brand?
Found it, And all the DVI KVM switches I could find are insanely priced, jesus christ 150$.
2010-02-25, 12:30 AM #1268
Yeah, they are not cheap. The other computer is VGA so I am just using both inputs, DVI and VGA on my monitor and switching between them.
2010-02-25, 12:39 AM #1269
My monitor just has 1 DVI port, poop.

That sucks. Did I mention I love Micro Center? It's like NewEgg, with less selection but overwhelmingly awesome and way cooler than Best Buy.
2010-02-25, 12:52 AM #1271
That really depends on what you're looking to buy. Sometimes Micro Center is the place to go, other times it really is not. It's generally a pretty good store, but I wouldn't say it's better than Best Buy, it's just different.

EDIT: Best Buy is like a car dealership. Micro Center is like a auto parts store.

Good analogy.

I once bought two 4-port KVMs from Microcenter, retail value about $200 each. They were marked down to $0.99. :omg:

I agree. They have some great deals, but it is a great store to browse, if nothing else. Much better than Best Buy as far as computer components and peripherals.

I went in looking for a KVM, and walked out with a KVM($20), multi-card reader($10), wireless usb keyboard+mouse ($5) and fan control unit ($15). Plus a 5 port switch I purchased a few months ago for $10. Awesome.
2010-02-25, 3:47 AM #1275
The last time I went to micro center I ended up spending like 400 dollars. Stores like that are my Achilles heel.

The last time I went to Best Buy I was asked by the same guy if he could help me 5 times w/in a 15 minute period while I was simply skimming accessories. Needless to say I cursed him out & left. I don't understand why I should have to say "no" 5 times & feel like I'm being hassled just for visiting a store. I went home & ordered what I needed through Amazon for much less than I would've gotten it w/ my employee discount & free shipping. The sad thing was that I was an employee in another division of the company at the time.
? :)

finity5, I'm surprised remote desktop was slow enough for you to notice, especially over a (presumably) wired network. I used it at university all the time to work on my home machine from the computer science labs and it was fine.

*shrug* I just tell Best Buy employees that I don't need any help and they always tend to leave me alone. Being forward with them always seems to work. I've only encountered one guy who was slightly pushy when I went there to pick up a cheapo laptop they had on sale. The guy tried to start selling me the whole ripoff package, but I immediately said to him "I can just take this box up to the checkout and buy it, right?" and then grabbed it and walked away from him.

Well there are a few variables that may have made it more tedious. It was between Linux and Windows and the Linux machine is significantly slower.
