Wheel + shifters + pedals + stand to mount it all on
2012-01-04, 7:58 AM #2172
That's a nice lookin' wheel. I just picked up Race Injection on steam yesterday, still playing with the old 360 wheel.

They're supposed to be really nice. They're not cheap, but they're the cheapest wheel set I know of that supports a clutch, shifter, force feedback, and works across the 360, PS3, and PC.

(I should point out I haven't gotten it yet, just ordered it. It'll probably take a week or two to get since it has to come ground shipping from Cali and hasn't even shipped yet.)

YOU *******!

(it's still buggy as hell with Forza 4, just so you know)

EDIT: Also, this is pretty much considered to be the best wheel on the market.

I've heard the most annoying Forza 4 bug (this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCbbkHUGOTo) has been fixed.
2012-01-04, 9:45 AM #2176
Yeah, many of the bugs have been fixed. The counter steering one looks awful, but I'd have to say the worst one is when the game accused a bunch of people of cheating (in single player, mind you) and refused to reward them credits because their steering was too precise.

I haven't been keeping up with it too much, but there are still a decent amount of bugs being reported on the Forza forums. It's a shame, because you would think that if a developer is going to work with a wheel manufacturer on a licensed wheel for their latest game, it should actually work properly with said game. Apparently it works great with everything else, though. So, cheers. I'm still jealous that you have it.

I wish I had about a thousand dollars to spend on a wheel, pedals, shifter, and stand.

(oh that one's a lot cheaper than the CSR Elite, but it's still pretty damned pricey.)

Yeah, it was more like $550 after shipping for it all. I looked at the elite. Definitely wasn't worth the extra $300 for the wheel alone to me. Seems like you're just paying a lot for some carbon fiber and a couple of other minor details.

I've got GT5 as well, and I'll probably pick up something on PC too to try out, so if Forza doesn't work well it won't be too big of a deal.

Better than the G27?

For PC, I would suggest F1 2011 (if your system can handle it. It's kind of a hog), or GRID.

Zanardi, the main flaw of the G27 is that it isn't compatible with the 360. Sure, you can buy an adapter, but from what I understand it doesn't really work that well. And if I can't use a wheel to play Forza, then it is useless to me.

Yeah, same here. Forza's easily my favorite game of the bunch, so if the wheel didn't even work with it, I wouldn't want it. That's why I didn't get a G27.
2012-01-04, 11:42 AM #2181
Oh, and according to the Forza forums, the Fanatech wheel works perfectly now. So enjoy, dude. I envy you.

Yeah that's what I was originally thinking. I knew it had some hiccups when Forza 4 first came out, but I'm glad to hear it seems to work great now.

They're semi open so they might not be the best option. For something portable I'd look at something like Koss Portapros; they're not pretty they're meant to be great for the price, pretty grado-like in sound.
nope.

A lot of people like those, but for me they're EXTREMELY uncomfortable for some reason. They hurt my ears really bad and end up giving me a headache no matter what tightness I set with the little blue knobs, every time I use them...but pretty much no one else seems to have that problem, so for their price, I can echo that suggestion.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Command & Conquer: The First Decade. $19.99

It was either going to be that or Command & Conquer 4. Was a choice between newer command and conquer game, or 12 older command and conquer games that would create a lot of nostalga.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.

Woot, all my Fanatec stuff came in yesterday. Crappy thing was I didn't get to play with it until about 9. Got home, unboxed it all, and started building the stand. Unfortunately one of the aluminum floor pieces had a bolt hole that wasn't threaded and the other one had a hole that was only half-way threaded. Had to run around to a couple of hardware stores to finally find the appropriate size thread tap (cause I wasn't gonna bother sending it back and waiting forever when I can fix it myself). After that and a bit more work, finally got everything put together. I fired Forza up last night, and proceeded to suck hardcore on a few races before going to bed, but man it was the most fun I've ever had with a console racing game I think.
