Well, I don't disagree. Although to twist your words a bit, in my defense, I only resort to posting non-sense in order to vent frustration at my opponents' apparent inability to even accept what I take to be trivially true.

Kroko, I only mean that the takeaway from CNN stories is often quite sensational, in that they seem to blow up minutia in order to cater to some petty political point. I.e., it's not "fake news", so much as clickbait. In fact I think they basically invented the medium, if you include remote controls in the set of devices that click (Fox News copied them!).

On the other hand, I imagine almost everything CNN publishes is at least factually true, which is a hell of a lot more than can be said about some of the other cable news networks out there.

This is an important point actually, if it's true. I did always find the term somewhat stupid, since it presumed that fact checking a story was as simple as calling it "fake".

That said, I really did think that in the early days of the term being thrown around by journos, they were really just talking about stories being shared on Facebook (admittedly usually by conservatives) that were overwhelmingly based on total bull****. As in, stuff that belonged in wacko tabloids, like World Weekly News or National Inquirer.

Can you cite a few (or a couple of) examples of this? And are you talking about their shows or regular news programming? I'm not even saying you're wrong, I just haven't really considered what you're saying before.

What does it mean in practice? Who "won" the primaries? Can one of those institutions be named the more important one for a party to control?

Well it means Republicans no longer have control over the entire government, so Trump will be forced to really negotiate if he wants certain legislation passed. It also means Republicans can't get another "**** poor people" tax bill through like in 2017.

Actually, it's not as simple as calling them conservative or just pointing back to Trump a few years ago although he did a pretty good job of trolling everyone back then. Really think about how long urban legends have been going on. Social media just made it exponentially easier to spread phony stories. Personally, I've been fact checking things for years prior to social media ever existing. Spreading easily disprovable misinformation has been a long time pet peeve of mine. You probably notice more crazy-ish stories but they just are the most recognizable. Far less sensational stories are worse in my opinion because they are less obviously false. For example, as a veteran (a term I never use to qualify my opinion), I see quite a few things from people who think they are supporting the military by spreading stories about military issues. Often the stories are misrepresenting the quality of VA treatment (far better than most say), financial compensation (far better than most say), etc. I think it's just as bad to spread that false information as it is to question the former president's birth place (although I have always wondered why he has an east coast ssn and I'm not even a birther).

Everyone that was on a ballot today won the primaries. Everyone that won the election today will, most likely, take office in January. As far as which is more important, it really should be the House because, in theory, it is the component of the federal government that is supposed to be closest to the individual voter. In practice, discounting the executive since it's a midterm election, it's probably the senate. When the party in the white house controls the senate there is far greater ability to shape the federal government for years to come (like the supreme court).

Well, cable news in general is a zoo. Their website might be slightly better, but, for example, you can read this article, chastising CNN for milking the Malaysia airlines disappearance for eyeballs when there was in fact nothing to report (this editorial is not particularly well written--it's just something I found from a quick google search for "cnn sensational").

Fox News does the same thing. They bombard their viewers with "breaking news" in order to engage their viewers amygdala and show them disasters, serial killers, and terrorist attacks, so they are continuously amped up on fear and are gripped to their seats.

I forgot about the plane. That was definitely a farce for the network.

In more funny news, I recently heard about this company called Conservative Move. This is their mission statement: “Helping families move from liberal states to Conservative states like Texas, Idaho, etc. Better jobs, low crime, great schools, freedom, low taxes and more. We are experts in real estate.“

Then, obviously, I wondered if there was such a thing to help families move from red states to liberal states. Then I remembered, oh right, lol, jobs. It’s jobs that help families move from red states to liberal states.

So Trump fired Sessions today and installed a loyalist, which means he is doing his damnedest to obstruct the investigation.

So this means the House will move to impeach Trump immediately in January, I think. We're probably going to have a serious crisis on our hands here. Woo!

California is the epitome of "success breeds jealousy" in America. The vitriol conservatives have for it is incredible.

California isn't successful, they have regulations and high taxes.

It's not actually possible for him to obstruct the investigation from what I've learned. He can legally order it shut down if he wants. Actually, kind of surprising it hasn't been shut down yet. Maybe they should just create a new department.



Although I'll be disappointed if they don't move for impeachment that will probably one of the dumbest things they could possibly do. It would be so easy for democrats to sway voters to their side but my guess is they'll get them to turn on them. Again.



I think the thing with California is all of the refugees fleeing that go to other states and then vote for the same crap they did in California. California all by itself wouldn't be so bad if it weren't infecting the rest of the country.
